I’m grateful for you showing this.Wrenching on all my vehicles all my life.Second guessing myself now that I’m older and was just sick of sports cars,always upgrading and replacing parts.Grew tired of it I guess.Thank you again.Did the rear but I’m neglecting to replace the front. probably a combination of old age laziness I guess but I have to get to it sooner than later.

Brother, you da man! I just finished this repair on my 2008 Tundra and this video completely walked me through it. Exactly the way a KZbin video should be: all steps clearly explained, nothing missed, and solid video. One extra recommendation: I removed the small 10mm bolt on the upper swing arm that holds the ABS cable. This bought me a little more slack to ensure I didn't accidentally stretch the line. Also, to anyone attempting this repair, the prybar was an invaluable tool! Make sure you have one ready. Excellent video overall! Thanks man!

Awesome job thanks great job very straight to the point and there will always be haters or arm chair experts. But the real working men know that’s a great video!!!! I’m a floor installer for about 20 years so I deal with people everyday. In my opinion that’s the hardest part of my job are the customers. Because most of them somehow know more then you about your job you’ve been doing all your life. I have about one customer a year that you could do the job for free and they still would complain ???? Can’t make everyone happy !!!! I always do my very best and I also give a 1 year warranty for the install. But keep up the great work I have to do this job on my tundra so THANK YOU SIR

This is by far the best method if you are replacing stock for stock, if you are doing a lift or spacers you will need to drop the LCA by loosening the control arm bolts and disconnecting it from the knuckle. Will completely need all new alignment

Blair, you work just about like I did when I was a Wrench. (combo hand/pwr tools, graduated UTI 1972) Good show. One tip on the sway bar: Remove both wheels, then the sway bar nuts from both sides, then remove both bolts. Now it doesn't have any tension on it and will swing up and out of the way without needing a pry bar (usually). I see the axle in there, so it's a 4WD. How much different is the 2WD? Does the LCA drop easier? You included all the tips I would have, so I can tell that you are a pro rather than a fly-by-nighter. Those come from having worked extensively on vehicles for years. (I'm surprised you didn't know the sway bar trick.) Kudos on a great video. Potential Revit customers: I think you can trust this guy. (I'm a retired mechanic.)

I looked up this video with the job 50% complete. Using the service manual, it doesn't really tell you the UCA needs to be disconnected. I had all 4 top nuts off, and there was still terrible spring pressure keeping the strut in! ALSO, on the passenger side, there's one top nut that WILL NOT come off. It's about 80% up the threads and a 6 point socket is slipping on it. Yay salt. Back outside to disconnect that top ball joint and sway bar. e: Successful, but, fuckin' shit ass hell! In my swap, I was installing KYB struts, a Moog top plate, and re-using the original spring. Used a rented spring compressor, and cut the old shock out. It compressed by hand, and stayed compressed.

Damn wish i watched this video before i did my install today, i didn't remove the upper control arm castle nut, instead i removed the two lower control arm bolt at the balljoint and loosened the camber bolts, a lot of work that way. I had the 5100 so i had to compress the old spring and transferred it over.

@vincephan344
@vincephan344 5 жыл бұрын
@@Revitauto i marked it on one side and i loosened the bolt enough to give some slack to the LCA to press it down. On the next side i loosened too much and camber plates moved around, i didn't mark it that time. Oh wells i have to get it aligned anyways since i'm lifting it 3" with the kit. I've done suspensions a dozen times not sure why i didn't bother to remove the UCA bolt. Took 3 hours to do both sides where it could've been done in half that time.

Just changed the struts on my 2015 Tundra and after watching several different videos I did not use this one and neither should you. Find a video that has you removing the 2 lower knuckle bolts and swinging the lower A arm down and out of the way. You will save yourself a lot of time and headache. The only "trick" was using the hydraulic jack to lift the lower A arm back into place.

Does Bilstien make a “Quick strut” for a 2010 Sequoia? I can’t find a part number. Only Monroe. Thanks
@Revitauto
@Revitauto 5 жыл бұрын
I was not able to find a Bilstien quick strut as that would have been my first choice. I just did an oil change and brake service on this exact tundra and the Monroes are holding up well. This truck is used as a wild land fire engine and is constantly used to its max. I hope this helps! Happy Motoring!-Blair

Do u have a vid on replacing upper ball joints?
@Revitauto

We do not on this vehicle, however, you may want to look into replacing the entire control arm instead of just the ball joint. Less tools required and go get an alignment after!

Always concerned about getting proper specs. But when you do this every single day for years you get a good range of what torque is. I will make a challenge video with all the mechanics at Revit and see how close we can all get ;) Torque specs are in the description. Bad instructions do not follow. This does not give enough clearance to get strut out and puts a ton of strain on brake lines. Found better videos showing to just drop lower control arm. Struggling to get it raised up to reconnect upper control arm. Mine is a leveled 4x4, maybe that makes all the difference but appears to me much less work to drop lower control arm
