Basic metric sockets, deep sockets, and open -end and box wrenches. Nothing fancy.

I took mine to a shop and had them weld the hole and then I installed a pump saver shim. And rebuilt the rest.

That fluid between the case and tranny means the rear seal on the transmission output is blown. Residual leaking over time? No buddy, it needs replacing, if someone paid you to do this you did them a disservice. Terrible video, no closeups of what is actually being worked on, and annoying background conversation and it looks like a union job, one guy working and three people watching them. Could have been 5 minutes with proper cutting.

It was my own car, really a goof video not an instructional how-to. But I'll bite, a small amount of trans fluid in that space is the result of a residual leak (small drip) in the rear seal. Maybe its a drip or 3 a year for 17 years. Trans fluid level is in normal limits and I never have to add any. So yes its possible, and yes you are also right, that its the right time to replace that seal while its apart for the couple of bucks. Thanks for watching.
