This video saved me - many thanks! I replaced the steering column in my 1998 E350 Econoline van (actually a 21' motorhome); afterwards my air bag light was flashing, my horn didn't work, and my cruise control probably didn't work. This video was SO easy to follow and SO thorough! Luckily I saved my old clock spring; I R&R'd them, put the steering wheel back on, gingerly replaced the air bag, turned the key, and was greeted with the wonderful sight of NO air bag light and a working horn - YaY! Haven't checked the cruise control yet, but have no reason to think it won't work... Now if I can just figger out my No Crank/No Start situation (I installed a plunger switch attached to the starter in the interim), I'll die a happy man, LOL...

My steering wheel bearings went bad which it appears is a Ford common problem .it was a cheap easy fix . But when I put the clock spring back in I must of screwed up because a couple months later my cruise control and bla bla bla stopped working .and I put off replacing it for a couple more months and my steering started getting tough to turn . I mean I could tell the difference but not overly tough to turn and lol then I noticed these metal wire sticking out the back of the steering wheel and I unwrapped it from around the steering column and it just lol kept coming lol and then clipped it off . Anyways when I first fixed the bearings and had it apart I don't remember having to replace that wire that you fed down to behind the dash or did I have to take my ignition switch out . I just disconnected the wires from the airbag and the clock spring and used the existing wires is it really necessary to replace that wire can't you just plug them back in . The clock spring is what is broken not the other wires .? I know I sound half ass but seriously I am asking do you have to replace those wires with your clock spring you sell ?

Wow these videos are incredibly detailed. Thank you 1A Auto!!! I’m trying to replace the ignition switch actuator behind the clock spring that slides into a shaft to the right of the steering column. I believe mine is broken. I am trying to figure out how to get the pieces to slide out. It’s two plastic parts the link to each other on its ends with a pin and hole. I will be able to get the upper piece out but I am not sure how to get the lower piece out from the column shaft. Any ideas?

Don't you have to spin the clock spring before you install? If it turns 6 times return 3 times??

funny guy you are. if you twist that clockspring better have a spare. thats why there is a lock pin in it. thats a ribbon cable in there.
