This video shows you how to install a new alternator from TRQ on your 2008-2020 Dodge Grand Caravan. The alternator in your vehicle powers the battery and electrical system while the engine is running. If your alternator is failing, you may wind up with a constantly draining battery.

this was a G2 REAT video and well done for specifics. 2 things. If the top rad hose is moved before taking out the overflow, it's MUCH easier. And we didn't think we were going to be able to finish the job till we got an E7 torx socket and started anyway, BUT we managed to get the alternator off the stud without removing it on our 2013, so bonus! THANKS AGAIN!!

This is probably the best how-to available. The VW Routan is slightly different but it's close enough. Now a caution. The video is very concisely edited. Every step has vital information. Pay close attention to each jump cut. Take notice the type of socket or wrench used, the length extension on the ratchet. All make or break for getting this done. Other videos showed removing twice as much stuff. Just loosen or remove what is shown and nothing else. I did not drain the radiator. I did remove the top hose at the radiator about 1/4 of a gallon came out. I lifted the overflow tank off and fed it down to the ground. That seemed the path of least resistance. Other than that, followed the video. Thanks for the great guide. And, don't buy parts from RockAuto unless you have 3 weeks to waste waiting for the parts to arrive. I didn't know the Pony Express was still around but that seems to be their preferred shipper.

lol, jack the car up. Remove skid plate. And passenger wheel, drop AC compressor. And unbolt and pull out the alternator.

Please help? Ive removed all the bolts from the alternator but it will not budge! I cannot seem to get out! It slides a little bit up and a little bit down but will not seperate from the engine! I have a 2014 town and country. We had to move the van before working on it. We juiced the battery just enough to move the car and thats it. The battery is now unplugged. Could the alternator be magnetized from us moving the van earlier today?

Listen UP. Did you see the carrosion on those bolts ? That white crap does not conduct electricity. So, take a wire brush and clean all the bolts, studs and nuts every where they touch the alternator, the block even the big red wire 'eye' that sends the juce to the battery. Remember the block IS the second wire in the charging system. Clean bare surfaces will conduct much better. Take the time to do it right.
