Thank you!!! You are something else sir, my belt went out today and I knew I had to look for your video to replace it, saved me 400 bucks in "labor" from a "mechanic"....

I dreaded the thought of changing the belt. But your video made it really easy to understand. And I changed the idler pulley while I had the belt off thanks to your other video. I just had your video pulled up and followed you step-by-step. No issues, and now there's no squealing sound either :) Thank you!

I just finished doing this job with your guidance. Thanks so much. I've gotta say, that brake line is so close to the idler pully. I had issues removing my ratchet after I took the belt off. I had to leave the rachet in the idler pully. I guess if someone had a slim ratchet it would have been easier. Either way I got it done. Thanks man!

thanks for the informative/straight-forward video! 3:28 what's the benefit of having a look for cracks in the belt? could it indicate problems with other parts in the serpentine belt's system?
@YouWrench2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, it's always worth checking the old belt, especially if you intend to reinstall the old one! It's worth checking it as well even if replacing with brand new so you can get an idea of how old the old belt may be, and also it may show signs of uneven or unusual wear across the face etc which could point at potential issues. Also, if you know how old the belt is, you will get a feeling for how cracked the belt should be over that time period. Hope that helps! --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! Thank you! At what intervals is this belt to be replaced?
@YouWrench2 жыл бұрын
They say up to 90,000 miles, but the general opinion is that 60,000 miles is a good figure. They often get changed earlier if they start making noise (very common) or you need to remove it to access anything else. The cost of the belt is low so it's not worth putting the old one back on if it's being removed for any reason, not unless it's already very new. Did you have to replace the drive belt tensioner for this? Cause the one you started with sure doesn't look like the one you finished with
@YouWrench Жыл бұрын
No, not specifically for this fault/job. We actually did that to produce a seperate video (which is on our channel). You do not need to change the tensioner just to change the belt (unless you have a faulty tensioner or f course!) But well spotted! :-) --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome!
