How to replace and install stereo in Hyundai Santa Fe

Here is a very detailed tutorial for installing a new single or double din stereo in your Hyundai Santa Fe. The wiring harness was perfect but I would not recommend the trim kit that I used in this video.

It was thanks to this video, I was able to install a new modern blu tooth stereo. The mounting kit was the hardest part, but I got it. Thank you soo much for posting this video. My next challenge is to install new front speakers since mine are blown. I will again be using your video as a guide. My rears are blown too, but that video looks too advanced for me. But once again, thank you. I love the older santa fes. Cars these days don't have curves inside our outside any more. Hanging onto my santa fe as long as I can.

@@laszlopacsai2850 If you had the Monsoon head unit it has a factory amp that would need to be bypassed. I have the Monsoon unit and I'm just going to run all new wires and delete the factory amp. Hope this helps with your sound issue.

If you locate one of your existing firewall grommets you may be able to squeeze your power lead through without drilling a new hole.

About to do this in the next couple days. Theres no factory amps in these right? Ive installed multiple headunits. And its never been straight up like its supposed to be. Always an issue with the harness not working correctly or something. Either it wont hold memory, or factory amps are a B!%$#. Or you have to by an extra unit to keep your seatbelt sensors working.

Danika Mageau yes all worked well, if you didn’t disconnect your battery before doing the install you could have blown a fuse.

You should still be able to use the factory amp with the aftermarket stereo.

I bought the Pioneer stereo, but the wiring that came with the stereo said "Black Wire: Chassis Ground, connect to a clean, paint-free metal location." But shouldn't I connect this to the black wire of the wiring harness?

Sorry for the late response. To answer your question. You would be ok connecting the main harness ground wire to the stereo ground wire. Black to Black. This should be more then sufficient. In many cases the stereo deck will be grounded to the chassis once it has been installed securely.

It should be very similar a single din would be just space for a standard stereo facing, a double din would mean the face of the stereo is twice the size.

@Kaylee Ledford, a double din will work but not 100% sure about 7” din, I’m pretty sure the stereo I went with was a bit under 7”.

Some people do just twist them together and then tape them. But I wire connector will help prevent the wires from having A poor connection in the long run.

You probably wouldn’t need the trim kit. If you are able to use what ever trim pieces are on you current stereo. Although it may be worth purchasing the trim kit to avoid possibly becoming stalled if for some reason you need addition trim pieces for mounting the new stereo. It is never fun to have to run to the store in the middle of a project.

be careful doing this,the bottom retainers with the holes that the screws insert upwards are extremely flimsy ,i rested it on the top of the temp control box while unplugging the clock and other things and one broke right away,no worries,it went back together perfectly and sturdy and you'll never see it,so there's that,just sayin

The purpose of a harness would be to avoid cutting the factory wiring, also the harness allows additional length to your wiring to allow easier install and room for wiring error.

Pink lighting? GASP ! Why on earth did Pioneer use PINK LIGHTS in the stereo ? It looks totally LAME and Clashes in a BIG way with the cars dash lights and is UGLY any color would have been better and that gawd awful pink hue would irritate me to brink of insanity.
