I liked this episode. Although I've already replaced a few brake lines on my '68, this video was still helpful in a few ways. I was fortunate that my '68 C10 with HD rear leaf suspension wasn't as rusty as your '71. To date, the only bolts that have broken off on removal were the ones for the grill and front fenders. My brake lines were in decent shape, so I only replaced all of the rubber lines. But, a complete brake system rebuild with upgraded master cylinder, front and rear discs, and a new booster are on the list. This will be done when I adapt my 5.3L LM7 into the old truck.

LMC gets the brake line kits from a company called Inline Tube. The lines are laser measured for factory specs. Outstanding products. Inline Tube also makes stainless steel braided brake hoses that LMC does not stock. You can order those in custom lengths. Fairly inexpensive too.

Thank you for this information, I have them pulled up on my phone right now.

Thank you for the tip Sterling! I just looked up Inline Tube, and they carry many more products and hardware than just brake lines. I'm saving that link on my computer.

That's a process that should take a couple of hours But, as I'd look at it, as long as it saves you a few bucks without having to take it to a professional mechanic

At 28:15 before you started installing the new master cylinder, did you measure the bore depth between the old and the new master cylinders and adjust the rod accordingly? Some poor braking conditions have been caused by not adjusting the rod length. If not adjusted properly, dragging brakes or a low pedal can result.

Have you guys done a video on upgrading brake systems on '49 to '66 trucks with disc brakes, master cyl. and everything. I have a '65 gmc and have put a '76 front end, with pwr. steering, disc brakes,etc. but haven't gone any further because of money. Have a sb 400 with turbo auto. What master cylinder would I put on it? I would love to put disc on rear but again what kind of rear would I use to bolt on? This is the first time to do this and need all the help I can get.

(1:48) If you ask for a master cylinder bench bled kit at the 4 auto parts stores in my area, they look at you like you just stepped off a flying saucer. I ended up making one out of the old lines.

So with the lack of fluid in the rear, dirt and rust everywhere, we're not planning on checking the brakes and cylinders in the rear drums?
@briantruck22843 жыл бұрын
💯
@MicheluceRizzuto3 жыл бұрын
So no checking the shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders? How about he bleeder screws snapping off when you try to bleed the old and leaking wheel cylinders? Nice lines though. I fabricated up all the lines for my 1967 and 1969 C10’s using Ni-Cop tubing with the protection shielding. It much more malleable and a lot less prone to corrosion.

Great video, but the one thing I wanted to see was how to remove the front brake hoses from the retainer clips and when he gets there he just cuts everything to pieces lol
@alm77073 жыл бұрын
I never use a flare nut wrench, I use a 6 point socket to remove the old rusty lines. Chop the line off flush with a chisel then use the socket. You're throwing the line away anyways.
@vandervan226 жыл бұрын
Will this same kit work on a 1966 c10 ?

This guy is good with the product placement, I know it's his job but he will be sly about it. "Yeah that part was rusty so we had to replace it * underneath breath* " You can get any part at LMC truck."

@ErnestoVazquezChoby10003 жыл бұрын
Rusty bolts: 1. Use needler to brake heavy rust, 2. Brush to remove all debri, 3. Soak it on wd40. Finally, 4 try to loose the bolt and then tight it again, never use impact wrench or go hard to loose the bolts

Looks like the owner of the truck needs to spend some quality time underneath with a wire brush and some POR-15.
@unclequack54457 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know it's a demo video, but at least a good hour of pressure washing before starting the work would help, That's what I always do when i start a project.
@lucass41835 жыл бұрын
POR-15 is pretty worthless if you plan on coating the inside of your fuel tank. Spent 1 week cleaning a 1970 Deville tank and bought a gallon of POR to seal the pinholes. Ended up buying a new tank, don’t waste your money or time

Hello Kevin Thank you for the informative video. I have order number 6541980 totally stuck in limbo. Ordered the crossover line which goes in front of the union inside left portion of frame (your part #30-1387. I received the front to rear break line that goes behind the union... The one you straighten out at the beginning of the video by pushing it against the floor. I need the line (your video shows it as 2 lines with another union that runs between the union below the master cylinder and the union (part#30-1387). The lines have multiple tight bends in them. I have spoken to your customer service a few times and have sent them multiple pictures and followed up with the vin number. Can you please help to get the proper lines sent to me. Thank you, Another Kevin (Wolff)

It shocked me how crappy this company is I did place an order for a top radiator hose for a 71 c10 they ended up sending the wrong hose not only once but after I called them and complained a week went buy and I had to recall again even after sending photos of the wrong hose the guy on the phone said can you please send us photos of the one we sent you that was wrong I was like moron I did that a week ago so they sent me a replacement and guess what wrong hose again talk about morons. Once is understandable but twice proves your customer service and shipping department is the worst.
