Most instructional video on this topic I have seen. Very thorough and plainly narrated. Thanks for posting. I'm about to commence this project tomorrow.

Remember to remove master cylinder cap and check fluid level when you push brake piston in to fit new pads. If you don't, the fluid may overflow. Brake fluid is hard on paint. Really thorough video. Thanks.

great video. the only thing that I might add is backing off the e brake and pushing the piston in the caliper back all the way when its still on the mounting bracket. also using a C clamp to push the piston back also works

Good comprehensive video, only one thing I would like to point out. When compressing the pistons in brake calipers, it is best to first remove the cap from the brake master cylinder so it doesn't spray out brake fluid, maybe even use a large syringe to remove excess brake fluid before compressing the caliper pistons so it doesn't spill in your pristine showcar engine bay(lol,jk) I am about to do the brakes on my mom's Tucson, and although I have done the brakes on many Fwd,Rwd, and 4wd vehicles, she is still concerned that I don't know what I am doing, and it is pretty amusing tbh. Thank you for providing this good informational video.

in high school our shop teacher taught us to put a light coat of anti seize on the wheel hub. to help in the future making it easier to remove the rotor not having to deal with so much corrosion.

I like the way you check and check again. Question: Do you have a compendium of torque specs? Do you get the torque specs on line?

Hi Jim my brother and I just did the brakes and rotors on his 2010 high on Day Santa Fe V6 engine we followed along in your video everything was going great until we started to do the back brakes we jacked up the back of the car and put the jack stands there the E break wasn't gauged then we took off the rear drivers wheel that was fine the road it came off then we went to the other side the rear passenger and we get whacked the router as hard as we could everything seemed fine like it wanted to come off it was loose but it felt like there was some sort of resistance maybe like a spring or something that was holding the router on and where the studs are and the 4 holes on the rotor, showed that it had been broken lose, I am wondering did it not come off due to the parking break being engaged when we jacked up the back of car? Looking in and behind the rotor I could see a spring with a hoop on it connected to a small little hook, and when we would pulled on the rotor that seemed to move? Do you have any idea what it could be or how we could the rotor off? It really felt like if we pried it off it would have damaged some type of spring mechanism
@richardvaughan77157 жыл бұрын
I meant to say the eve break was engaged when we jacked up the back of the vehicle so I was curious could we have locked the road or somehow in doing that is that why the router would not come off

Hi Jim - I am trying to find a suitable pads and rotor assembly for my 2008 Santa Fe. Is there any recommended aftermarket reliable brand on ebay or amazon? Autozone shows about 500$ for the full set whereas ebay has for 150 total... TIA

Good question. Check my Amazon store for the parts that I use at the shop. The one I like are made by Wagner or Monroe. Here are some of the tools that jimthecarguy uses www.amazon.com/shop/jimthecarguy

No anti seize is different. The lube I use in the video is a synthetic brake grease made just for brakes.Thank you for your input and for watching

Oh god, I loooove how you just pop it of like nothing. Please, do go on and explain why the holy hell mine feels like it is being held by a god damn spring, I can barely wiggle it forward , but it pops right back to here it was before. I beg you, please explain before I give up and set this damn car on fire.

You will need to back off on the parking brake shoes because there must be a lot of rust on your rotors. Do you always use your parking brake ?
