That method wont work on most cars. Theres not enough space to just swap out a stud like that. I just did a job today and we had to completely take the hub assembly off.

To get the lug nuts back onto the hub you really shouldn't wack them with a heavy hammer as it's bad for the bearings and bearing seals. Tap them in gently until they bed in a bit, then using an oversized nut placed over the lug put the lug nut on and tighten it down until it engages into the oversized nut, once you tighten it further it will start to pull the lug into the hub.

I read elsewhere the difference between trailer tires and car tires is the trailer ones have stiff sidewalks to keep it from swaying. How well has your ATV tire worked out Thanks for posting, btw. About to replace chowdered up lugs & nuts, and I thought that was how, but wasn't sure.

After the tire was tight on the hub, you should have performed a check on your wheel bearings (grab at 9 and 3 o'clock, and check for play). Also should have repacked the grease, and inspected the leaf springs, etc.

If you had turned the lug nut around, so the flat side was against the hub. You could have just tightened the lug and pulled the stud into place.

That's how to do it. Load up like 5 thick washers on it and you can pull the stud all the way in.

You might consider changing the title of the video. Those are wheel studs. Lug bolts are like what are used on Mercedes. No lug nuts or studs -- only bolts.

The proper way is to use a tool to press it firmly and evenly out. You will damage your bearings by hammering it.
