You had the right idea with flossing the badge, but fishing line works great and is durable. C4 is coming back to life beautifully!

Chris, I know you already did this, but I would take a die and create threads for a real lock nut. Also, spray WD-40 which removes all adhesive.

Those emblems are the icing on the cake. Chris get some plastic razor blades to scrape the goo away. They work great and won't gouge the paint. 👍 Nice job! -Glen

I usually soak adhesive in acetone. Just soak a rag in in and leace it on there for a bit. Then use an eraser wheel on it. They sell them at auto parts stores and body shop suppliers. Works great 👍

Chris - I did this to mine a couple years ago. The clear coat damage around the front badge of my car was worse that on yours. Story time: Someone (a fellow corvette club member ......in their corvette) rear-ended me and scraped up my back bumper and knocked off my exhaust system. I took this "opportunity" to get other parts of my C4 repainted - not just the back bumper - (like, say ....where the clear coat damage was around the front hood badge). Turned out very well in the end. How many people have been hit in their corvette .....by another corvette? Cops got a laugh out of it.

Updating those badges adds value to the car immediately. I think the new badges add about 5hp too! Ha!

I just wonder if not exposing the adhesive on the back of the emblems and only using the nuts for attachment would be a viable option if removal of emblems for painting is in the future .

A heat gun is good when you are removing badges and old glue. Just dont heat so much that the paint is damaged.

Normally I would agree, but the adhesive had turned hard. It wasn’t malleable anymore. It turned to dust as I scrapped it off.

After watching this video last night, I went ahead and ordered the pair from Amazon. I bought a new gas filler door emblem a few years ago. I didn't put it on until 19. Sometime last year or in 19, the checkered flag came off somewhere. I got it from Corvette Mods. It's not their fault it was made bad. The hood emblem was put on by the previous owner. It's the wrong one. Right color, not right because the Chevrolet logo, and checkered sections don't angle upward.
@BodilyInjury-px8mdАй бұрын
I found the replacements do not last as far as the corners of the logo peeling up. 1.5 years and I had to replace again. Tried to super glue corners, a little messy, used googone to clean it up. But you can tell the original ones are much better built and sealed, 37 years old, faded yes, but the logo area never peeled or lifted up.

Remember to put grease on the end of the screw driver extension, otherwise it will fall over into the abyss of the hood !

It is possible to reverse emblem placement by mistake? Place the threaded emblem on the front and non-threaded emblem on the back? Thanks. Good video.

No, they have different sizes.
@mycorvettelife3 жыл бұрын
No, not only are they different size, but they are a different design. The front is more of a V and the rear is straight. Also the front doesn’t have threads on the pins.
