You said to have the air flow indicator pointed up. Everything else I have read or seen says the air flow indicator is to be pointing down. Which is it? Thanks

We state in this video that the air flow arrow should be pointing up but the air flow arrow should be pointing down when installing your new cabin air filter. Our arrows point down to indicate the direction the air is actually flowing. It should also be noted that the arrows on the OEM filter can be misleading if you intend to replace with an aftermarket filter. The OEM filter has "UP" arrows, whereas aftermarket filters show air flow arrows. If using an aftermarket filter, the airflow arrow should be pointing DOWN. This will make sense to you when you pull out the old filter and notice that all the debris (leaves, bugs, etc.) are on top of the filter. Therefore, the airflow travels downward, through the filter and into the blower vanes.

@@filterheads Thank you so much ! ! ! I have viewed numerous videos, my Highlander manual, and other resources. This is a clear and definitive explanation. Now I know why the arrow points up on the filter holder/cover, and down on the aftermarket filter. I actually was going to install with the arrow up (and the text by it down, which didn't make sense). Now the arrow points down, the air flows down. I had even carefully put my hand in and turned on the fan to be triplely sure the air was flowing down and it was. Thanks again.

Lmao I was looking for this comment because the top of the filter was covered in leaves indicating the air flows from top to bottom and air flow therefore is in a downward direction
