I can't even believe this channel, saved my life. xD I had to replace my whole suspension on my 2002 Honda Civic Ex after a bad accident. I wouldn't have known how to do it if it wasn't for these videos. So in return for all the information, in a quick, detailed manner, I did get all my parts through them. Same price as eBay, but they won't let you buy things that don't fit in your car and make sure you are getting the right things. I almost got the wrong bolt pattern for my rim, almost got 4x125 instead of 4x100, but they emailed me to make sure before sending and knew the stock bolt pattern and asked if I had an aftermarket Knuckle to make sure. I said no and they sent the 4x100 so it would fit. :D Thanks guys! I am getting a new cat next month because I have the P-0420 code. I tried switching both O2 censors and still passed smog somehow, but going uphill, she slows down.

Since new, I have a 2005 Civic SI with low mileage and was just informed that I need a catalytic converter. The check engine light has been on for 7 years, I paid the dealership to to do something, the first time I noticed it and replaced the gas cap. They informed me it may come back on and it did in about 3 days. For the last 4 years it never passes our E-test. Thanks for sharing, now I know what a catalytic converter is.

because of 1aaAuto.com I've saved about 1000 dollars. These guys really help DIY everything on my 2001 honda civic. Just did a Front brake pad replacement and I'm thinking about changing the catalytic converter. I'm hoping I can figure out what's wrong with sensors but I replaced both. It's probably the intake sensor since it's flimsy and lose. It has a custom intake.

Seems like something I could do myself but when I took my Civic to my local auto shops they made it sound a little more complicated than it is. They told me they have to know the engine family number. After watching this video looks as if I can just order the part from you guys and make a switch. One shop even quoted me as high as $1500. As much as possible I don’t want to do it myself because I don’t want to get under my car on my back. But, with the price so high I may have to get on my back and just get dirty.

The replacement downpipe isn't mandrel bent the way the oem one was, with the crimped looking radius instead. It's a sign of a budget replacement part. Knowing that, the corrosion resistance of the replacement part is almost certainly nowhere near as good as the oem either. So if you live in a state that uses road salt, don't expect that downpipe to last very long.

@jnutz48715 жыл бұрын
Well it depends on the new cat youre buying, different parts from different companies have different prices they can go anywhere between 150-600$ for a new aftermarket catalytic converter and if youre getting it done in a shop depending on the shop the prices vary due to cost of parts and also added labor so pricing out the process is kind of up to the shop unless you do it at home. Now if youre looking for a direct oem replacement rather than a high flow performance cat then yes it should pass smog no problem if you keep sure to get one thats legal for your state emmisions. Most aftermarket parts should list what states they can be used in and always double check before finalizing a purchase.

Will the new catalytic converter make the car sound better?
@1AAuto8 жыл бұрын
+DaveWave It depends on how yours has failed. If it's rusted through and has a hole in it, it's an open point in the exhaust system which can make the car sound very loud. So in that case replacing the cat. with a new one could close up your exhaust leak and make the car run more quietly. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com?KZbin&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393
@1AAuto8 жыл бұрын
+DaveWave I thought you might have meant from a performance point, but I wasn't sure. A high flow catalytic converter will definitely make the car somewhat louder, but if you were to combine it with an aftermarket resonator and muffler designed to allow for a loud exhaust you would have better luck. To properly tune your vehicles exhaust, however, you should look at where it all begins, the exhaust manifold. A custom exhaust manifold, with the proper muffler/resonator combo down the line, is where you will really find that throaty sound you're looking for.

+Chavez I Thank you for checking us out. The code P0430 means that bank 2 catalyst system is not being monitored appropriately. Some possible causes are a faulty converter, intake air leaks, fuel injector leak or failure, faulty spark plugs or improper ignition timing.
