How to replace Erdé trailer wheel bearings

This is an Erdé 122 trailer but this is similar for many Maypole and Daxara trailers.
These trailer uses standard 6004 and 6202 bearings.

On my boat trailer I changed the 4.80/4.00 / 8 to the 5.00 / 10. Bigger really is better in terms of ride on our roads. If you have room try 10" next time you replace the tyres / wheels. Thanks for sharing the video.

Cheers! Followed your instructions. Both big bearings stuck fast. After heat I used a puller and cold chisel at the same time. On one the outer circumference and race came off so used a nut cracker. All done now. Phew.

Thank you for this video. My wife has just bought one of these trailers from Facebook. I thought I'd better check the bearings before she took it out and good job I did as one of them has failed. Unfortunately the dust cap was well rusted in to the point I had to cut it off.

The larger 4.00-8 tyres have the advantage of reducing RPM which makes them and the bearings last longer.

When using the hub puller, use the loosened hub nut to centre it

I struggled with some Erde bearings once, did t have many tools with me, I left the hubs in some august sun for an hour and put the bearings in the fridge, it made a tiny but useful difference. Still scares me that there is nothing retaining the hub nut

I thought it was a bit risky too, but they do have a nylon nut

what tyre preasure do you run in those. iv got a erdi 142 and it says 50.7 psi..it feels like its going to blow up lol

No Idea. I don't think too hard about these things, if it says 50 then why not 50? racing bicycle runs at 120, van at 50/

Other tip, they are much easier to work on if attached to a car - I appreciate not always practical
