This is the BEST video for changing RO filters. Thank you so much for the very detailed and thorough video. I sanitized my system according to your directions. FYI: I write the date on a painter's tape of when the filters were changed, when the membrane was changed, and the pressure of the water tank. This helps to remind me of the next filter change. Again, many thanks. Thank you and your family for your dedicated service to our country.

Thanks for the nice comment and the painters tape is a good idea.

Thanks for the video, and THANK YOU for your service! What I did differently was order my filters to be delivered the next day, tore my system apart deep cleaned everything, ran the peroxide thru the system then flushed the system 4 times, took everything apart let dry and the next day when the filters came all I had to do was install the filters, turn on the water and let it fill. Works perfectly! God Bless!!

Thanks, I watched this twice before changing these filters in our new home. You did a great job of walking through it. . And you so right, I did 8 years in the service in 70s and most of the time it was more difficult for my family. Thanks

You do a great job on your videos. I'm thinking of going to an RO system so so this video you made is timely and appreciated. I'm with you, we are heading the wrong direction but if we can all come together instead of being divided by the media and politicians, things will get better. Videos like this are a great way to help people, all over the world. God bless you and your family. Thank you , and your wife for your service, and tell her happy mother's day for us!

Awesome you are correct we can not be divided even if we do not have the same beliefs. Thanks for watching and I will tell my wife you said happy Mother’s Day and thank you. God bless stay strong

Thank you DIY Jim! The house I purchased had the same RO system already installed but no manual. I watched several videos before attempting the maintenance (which was overdue). For me, your video was by far the best, the one that gave me the confidence to tackle a job that, while not terribly difficult, does requires attention to detail. I look forward to watching more of your videos!

Thanks Thomas I try to make all my videos easy to understand and as short as I can make them.

I had no idea there was a osmosis system designed for homeowners. I use a system salvaged from a commercial soda factory and it has to be backwashed and periodically dissassembled to install new membranes. Your family is lucky to have someone as handy as you and as good looking too.

Hey, Jim, thanks for the video. I had no problems changing out the stage 1 & 2 filters (6 month maintenance) and inflating the tank bladder (amount of water coming out was very low). System is back up and running with pressure again. This is my first solo change out, giving myself an atta girl on this one!

This was an awesome video!! Very straight forward & easy to take notes!! I moved into a home that had this strange (to me) set up under the sink and had no idea what it was. Been really sick, recently started functional medicine school & learned about RO, went to order one and saw that the thing under the sink was this one!! Couldn’t find much about how to use it online, came across your video and now I feel confident to fix it up! Thank you so much, sir! (My husband is currently Army, too!) :) Be Well!

One thing I do to help reduce the possibility of chlorine hitting your membrane which destroys your membrane. I use some of the RO water to rinse the housings before installing the filters. Depending on how chlorinated your water is just running tap water through to rinse out the bleach, could destroy your membrane. Also go Army! I didn't make it a full 20 only 13.5 for me as a 13F until I hurt my shoulder.

Are all RO setups the same when it comes to the membrane and the other one that goes on top. As in not the 3 that go down. Mine look different than all the videos I have watched.

I think most are real similar. Hope you get yours figured out

@@DIYJIM I took it apart and it’s definitely different. A replacement intake filter my dad gave me isn’t compatible so I need to replace the 4th and 5th elements. I also realized the other 3 filters are all 3 different kinds and not 2 of one kind and 1 of the other like on some ROs

Thanks DYI Jim! Do you use a TDS meter to tell you when to replace sediment, carbon or RO filter?
@DIYJIM3 жыл бұрын
I just change my carbon and sediment filters once a year I also have a whole house filter. The final and membrane filter every 2 years. That is what I do and my water taste better than bottled water.
@chuckschillingvideos Жыл бұрын
If you have an inline TDS meter in your system, it will tell you when to replace the membrane. Also, at least in my system, I need to replace the prefilter much more frequently than once a year.

Can you do a video of stories and your experience through your deployment? I'm a big fan of people who have served and love to hear about their service.
@DIYJIM3 жыл бұрын
Not very good at stories or even remembering it all sorry. 4 years in the Navy, 2 six month med cruises is how I started. Then I joined the Army national guard. I got deployed to Germany right after 911 then to Taji Iraq 08 09 then my last deployment was Kuwait in 2013. I also worked full time for the guard 2012 helping get the soldiers ready for a deployment. I’m very happy to be retired and not leave my family again.
