Welcome to my KZbin channel. This channel is the home for all your vintage Mid-Year Corvette content. In today's video I show you how to remove and replace C2 Corvette quarter panels with Vette masters quarter panels. To do this I had to ruin Overkill's Patina.... Dangit. It will look much better now.

I just finished restoring a 1963 Corvette Split Window and I am starting another split window build but this time its a race car build. I will be making videos every Friday. I will be making videos on my 1963 Corvette Split Window, my dad's 1965 Corvette, my race car split window build, my friends 1960 Corvette, and other projects that I find along the way. Let me know what you think about the video. Enjoy!!
If you are interested in an official MYM hat or if you have any questions please send me an email to midyearmitch@gmail.com.
Check out my Instagram for some behind the scenes pics of my builds.

Great looking finish there Mitch! Could you tell me which manufacturer's quarter panels have you got there? I'd need get a pair.

They are made by Vette masters out of Virginia. You can find them on eBay. Look up 63-67 corvette rear quarter panels. They are sold by jhn317. They are available in 3 colors. Check them out you won’t be disappointed!

Hi, I was reading that you have done a body off on a C1. Are they basically the same design as to how they go together? C1s are fun too. I had a friend in the military when I was at El Toro MCAS. IT was a 58, it had 8 stacks sticking out the hood. Once we sent a Pantera owner home crying. Take care, can't wait to see the 60 build.

Well I will tell you that the electrical is much easier,less of it , the interior is much simpler,the front suspension, much simpler as is the rear suspension . I do my own work , I am not kidding.

What a neat car. I get attached to them so easy. One thing is for sure..... overkill will continue to be badass no matter where she goes! I hope we can see her all done.

Hey there Mitch, That quarter removal looks surprisingly straightforward ... I think even I could do it! The old flares are pretty big. They must have has some massive tires in there. Nice job on this. I hope you can get some shots of it after paint. I'd like to see how it turns out. Take care, Dan

Hey Dan it definitely isn’t too bad. I’m sure overkill looked cool with its flares back in the day but now it’s going to be really classy. Thanks for stopping by! Take it easy Dan.

Hey Mitch, job well done. Someday maybe I’ll have enough courage to try replacing my rear quarters and tail light panel. One question, any particular reason you used the air chisel versus the heat gun? I watched you use a heat gun in the past and it seemed to work well.
@MidYearMitch
@MidYearMitch 9 ай бұрын
Thanks I appreciate it! That’s a good question. I actually started using the head gun at the beginning but it wasn’t working that well. Sometimes the heat gun softens up the panel that you are trying to separate along with the glue and it starts to make a mess. That’s what happened here. I tried it and it started making the 1/4 soft. Sometimes you can push through it but it was going to destroy the 1/4. I like the air hammer technique because it shocks the panel and if the glue isn’t heated the seam is brittle and it will pop. Everyone does things differently and there really isn’t a wrong answer. Just try a couple different methods and find out what works for you.

It looks real nice Mitch. Lost some patina but she is gonna get some paint. Thanks for the tips. Sorry to see her go for now but we will see her again one day. The 65 is quietly waiting for her turn to be center stage for you to work your magic. I know nothing about the C1s except for your early videos that we can all revisit. Thanks for all your dedication and hard work to these cars so that we may learn. Take care and stay safe.

Thanks Jim! I’m sad to see the patina leave but I’m excited to see the car get wrapped up. It’s going to look great when it’s done. I’m hoping to send centerfield home before the end of the year. I don’t know a whole lot about C1’s either haha. We all will learn together.

I feel the important thing here is you rescued a body off the junk pile and it became a car again. Overkill was a cool car but it’s off to its new “forever home” (to use a dog lover term). Nice work!
