Thank you for the reply. My truck is actually an 02 Avalanche 2500. Today I looked and found that I have an actuator on the transfer case. I did your test and listened for the actuator sound and heard nothing. After a little more research I found that the ground wires on the frame under the drivers door were never tightened at the factory. After a few turns of a ratchet the truck shifts flawlessly. Good luck with your part business. Putting out the videos is a great idea to help sales.

@02CamoZ71 You may want to check under the hood for broken or frayed vacuum lines to see if any of them are broke. If you do find one fix it and see if it helps. A lot of times many different vehicles use vacuum to also help engage the 4WD system, and if there's a leak it may not fully engage. Hope this helps you out.
@1AAuto11 жыл бұрын
It could be, in the system runs off of vacuum, check the vacuum lines to see if any of them have a crack or are broken and need to be replaced. Hope this helps you out.
@1AAuto13 жыл бұрын
@pitty4cly It could be the actuator, or possible the hubs having a hard time engaging. I would also check for any unplugged, loose or cracked vacuum lines under the hood.
@1AAuto13 жыл бұрын
@yobie732 Once you loosen the nut the whole unit should come right out as shown in the video. If you look at the end of the actuator in th video there is some fluid on it. Not sure if part of the actuator has snapped off on you and is stuck in the housing. Hope this helps out.

It should break free for you as shown in the video. Is the nut on the actuator stripped from the wrench slipping on it? If it is and you can't get a good bit on the plastic, you may be able to use a pipe wrench to break it free.
@1AAuto13 жыл бұрын
@pooh3700 It could be the actuator. You may also want to inspect all of your vacuum lines in the engine bay to see if there are any broke or disconnected ones that could be causing the issue. Hope this helps you out.

Sounds almost as if the shift motor is not properly engaging on the transfer case. I would suggest checking out the motor itself and see if it is clicking over far enough to engage the transfer case gearing.

@imaniguana You could try to check your vacuum lines to see if there's a leak at all in them. If there is that may cause the system to hang up. If it is stuck in 4WD you should be able to feel the front end hop when you take a turn.

Both of those codes point to an EVAP leak. It could be the gas cap or possibly the canister valve.
@1AAuto11 жыл бұрын
It could definitely be the the issue but it could also be the transfer case shift motor. You might want to see if the motor is working first and then see if the actuator is pushing out when you hit the 4hi.
@1AAuto11 жыл бұрын
There could be either a fault with the transfer case, shift motor or the front differential. Bringing it into the shop and having them read the codes will be the best bet at this point.

2003 Yukon 2500. 2 HI, 4 HI and 2 Low lights all work on dash. I can hear the transfer case motor working. I can feel the truck drag when engaging the transfer case. Drained the fluid in the transfer case all looks good. My mechanic confirmed the output from the transfer case spins the front drive shaft. The front wheels spin on the lift. But under load no 4wd. There were two different types of actuators that came on those trucks. Some of them were an axle actuator and some of them were mounted on the transfer case. You can either check under the truck to see what type your truck has, or if you give the dealer your VIN # they could tell you what type your truck has. We carry both types on our website 1aauto.com 888-8944-3393

1A Auto Parts, I was following this video to help replace the actuator in my 2002 gmc 2500hd, when I took out he old actuator it came out very hard, and there was plastic strips coming off the threads. I tried to screw the new actuator in but it would not go in, it was kinda catch but then pop back off the threads. It started to go in once but was very hard, I pulled it out and the first line of threads was stipped completly off...what would cause that? was is the wrong actuator? It looked exactly like the one that was on there. I believe then one I had as the good one was from an older truck like a 98 chevy 1500 with push button 4x4

Today it went into Lo and is stuck there. I need to change the actuator. Does my truck have both the axle actuator and the transfer case actuator?
