If these are old enough they are pretty impossible to get off without breaking it. The required force is stronger than the plastic material it's made of.

So if it broke the light will come on? Becuase I remember I changed the axle seal on the right side and that part by the side broke but it was still able to go on

I didn't understand why you drilled? Wouldn't the sensor come out and you just install new one? What am I missing?
