Note that he said use a 17mm socket to loosen the old castle nut but then said use a 19mm socket to put the new castle nut on. I have seen when new replacement nuts sometimes have a different outer wrench size than the old nuts for replacement parts.

I ordered this part from 1A auto, and it was NOT the same tie rod that is featured in this video. the rubberized boot on this outer tie rod is more elongated and more cone shaped. also... there is no metal point on the other side of the tie rod as well.. Im changing the part right now... ill update later whether or not it makes any difference.... ...im sure its not a big deal... but these are the little discrepancies that DO matter occasionally.

Is it possible to break the cotter pin? I haven't been able to get mine off after trying for 10 minutes and I'm afraid I might break it.
@brizad1877 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you will get this in time. I just got 2 tie rod for both sides.. the tie rods look completely different. is that ok? or did I get the wrong part by mistake.

Any reason why my new tire rod end didn’t come with a new lock nut or a serviceable joint?

What is the reason for torquing the axle after installing the wheel and lowering the car than before it?
@1AAuto3 жыл бұрын
+farazsm2013 Thanks for watching! It is not safe to apply that much torque when the vehicle is on jacks and jack stands or on a lift. You need to have the vehicle stable and on the ground, suspension loaded.

How would you take off the castle nut that keeps spinning but won’t come off??
@1AAuto6 жыл бұрын
+Tyee cooks It sounds like the ball joint stud is spinning along with the castle nut. You will have to get some vice grips on the end of the stud and remove the castle nut with and open ended wrench. 1aauto.com

Will this be the same steps on a 2002 Toyota Camry?
@1AAuto5 жыл бұрын
+Bruno Verano At this moment, the closest how-to video we have to your request is for this vehicle, which is very similar to the one you have. The steps may not be 100% the same, but should contain an adequate amount of information necessary for accomplishing this task! 1aauto.com

Our passenger side outer tie rod is FROZEN in place. Used PB Blast, MAP heat and the two wrench method - NOTHING. No movement at all. Only a shop with a rack and an extra long bar for leverage is gonna free it.

5:00 What's that black bar below the tie rod?

+CoinHuntingDrew The black bar below the tie rod would be the sway bar.

+1A Auto Parts at 4:37 you are pointing to the inner tie rod. I am talking about the bar that is right under the one you are pointing to.
@1AAuto7 жыл бұрын
+Juan Pacheco Ok, that should be the sway bar. It looks as though it is a different design on this vehicle. 1aauto.com
