Excellent video. Made the job straight forward. Here are some torque specs: 3 upper strut mount locking nuts = 14.5 ft-lb 2 lower strut locking nuts = 129 lb-ft

I always put small square pieces of 1/2” plywood under the jack stands so they don’t dig into the asphalt. Also apply anti seize on all bolt threads as well as the lug nuts. Thanks for the video.

ive seen other peoples videos painting a line on the camber bolts, and making sure the lines are lined up in the end, instead of how you did it. is there a difference?

just finished the fronts. the axel moved high up as soon as the bolts came out. how come yours didnt? it was a pain trying to push the axel down to fit the bolts
@jeffflowers7292 жыл бұрын
pretty sure he had the bolts mixed up too. Turning it didn't move the strut in/out at all. That's not right.

I'm having a problem, when putting in the new strut, it is sitting too low for the bolts to go back in. I know I have the right part. Any suggestions?
@1AAuto5 жыл бұрын
+Asher Krantz You can try fastening the bolts at the top mount first and then the bottom bolts if you were doing it in the inverse way. If you are still having difficulties I would go back and take another look at the video to find something that may have been missed.

@@1AAutothanks for the help. I got it figured out and installed
@kevinbrock77665 жыл бұрын
@@1AAuto I'm having the same issue as Asher. The shocks going in are not a 1:1 match of what was coming out. A prior owner had installed these (crappy) Perrin coil-overs that creak and pop. I'm putting in the struts in the video and I've followed *many* of these tutorials. They're all the same. In them the steering knuckle is beneath the bottom two shock mount holes and they all-just like you did here-lift the steering knuckle up into the bottom of the strut. My problem is the strut holes are a good 2-3 inches *below* the steering knuckle holes. Maybe the prior owner installed/tweaked something else? I don't know. All these vids are like yours and make it look easy. I was hoping this would be a DIY project, now I'm thinking I'm going to have to reinstall the turd shock (I've only attempted the right front so far) and get it to a shop to have a professional rectify it. But if you've got any other advice I'm all ears. Thanks so much!
@kevinbrock77665 жыл бұрын
I figured it out as well. My issue was uneven jacking. I had the right side up initially. When I lowered the right and jacked it up from the front center that evened things out and the strut moved (almost) into place. It was still off by a little bit but I was able to get the bottom two holes aligned enough to push a big flat-head screwdriver into them. Once I did that, I levered it until the top holes were also in alignment. I tapped the top bolt in, just enough to hold it all in place. Once the top was secure the bottom hole was easy. Thanks for these videos. Super helpful.

Nice video, if your reusing the springs the fronts are a mf. You need two sets of compressors and have to keep adjusting them.
