What is the process for replacing the rear hub on Savana 2500?
@timl6592 жыл бұрын
Hello thank you for the video my question for you is is the hub assembly considered the wheel bearing? And can you please add a video of a wheel bearing for a 2008 Chevy Express 3500 thank you

I just did this job on my 2010 GMC Savana 3500. Connected the new ABS cable accordingly. But now the Stabilitrack and ABS lights are on. Any thoughts?

Good video but the wheel lug torque specs are low. The torque spec for the wheel lugs should be 140ftlbs not 100ftlbs

Gary Mooyin I think you’re talking about the front bump stop. On a 2003 Chevy Express 2500 (my vehicle) they are very easy to replace. I used a flathead screwdriver to pry the old one out from the cup it sits in. It can be a pain but you should be able to muscle it out. The new one will pop back up and in with some pressure and a lot of twisting. I used a rounded (not sharp) chisel to get the last 1/4” up and back in the cup. This was for a 2003 Chevy Express 2500. The rears were similar but were a bit easier because on my van the small retainer bumps that hold the bump stop in were arranged similar to a bulb socket where I was able to twist it up and in a lot easier than the fronts. Good luck!

Appreciate the torque spec. 80ftlbs for the 4 hub bolts, much appreciated!!

The process is slightly different if you have a 1500 with the AWD, it has the same hub assembly as near any other GM 1/2 ton truck, with you needing to remove the Axle nut, and then you can loosen the hub assembly, though, getting a stuck one out is tough because the CV axle will be in the way, it can be done by threading the bolts back in about 1/2 way, and using them to pound on the back of the hub assembly.

Good video (as always). I'm a retired CGMAT and I like how you always do it right, and give the torque specs when needed. Minor note, when you mention using white grease here, he's actually using silicone grease (which I always use on brake parts as well as anything rubber underneath that's exposed to water, like sway bar to chassis bushings).

Great informational video, step by step. Question: Do they not perform repacking the inner and out wheel bearings with grease, and replacing just the races? I mean I haven't repacked wheel bearings since my 1978 Buick Skyhawk. Is that even done anymore on these newer (anything in the 2000's) vehicles?
@kfarley68 жыл бұрын
+DeWALTer_White These type of bearings are sealed & can not be lubricated. Once they wear out they are done. I'm not sure if any vehicles use the repackable wheel bearings anymore?
