Well, I have to admit after watching this video I decided to give it a shot and replace this part on my 2002 Mountaineer, the front door driver's side. After I was finished the window goes down very quickly and very smooth. However when you go to raise the window it wants to hang up and I have to either slide the window forward or pull on the top of it to help it go up. Nothing you did caused any of this but I was hoping you might be familiar with the problem and might be able to steer me in the right direction as to what I either did wrong or can do to remedy this problem. Thank you for the tutorial, it was very helpful and probably wouldn't have even attempted without watching.

Do replacement regulators come with the same power motor that the original regulator has? I replaced one after watching your video and it went well but the window didn't want to go up very good. It kept hanging up and then it sounded like the gears were stripped and the window didn't go up or down. I got the replacement regulator today and I will replacing it again but was just curious as to why it struggled to raise the window. Thank you for your time.

+66lwmorgan it's possible that you need to replace the motor, but we wouldn't be able to diagnose your issue here. We typically carry kits that include both the regulator and the kit, and usually also sell them separately if you find that you are in need of the motor as well. Thanks for shopping with us!

@@1AAuto I was thinking the regulator you showed in the video included the motor. I've been told you can can't change just the motor. It goes down real smooth and fast, going up it's sluggish and wants to hang up. Thank you again for your reply.

My window is stuck in the up position, I have clipped the cables and still doesn't go down. Additionally, one of the studs at the top of the regulator just spins, and I can't loosen it in order push it out. Any ideas?

Thank you. I successfully switched out my window harness and install a new one. it's perfect. your video was so helpful. as for the size of the bolt to replace the rivets, just get a bolt with a head large enough so it doesn't slip thru the hole. use a lock washer and a nut on back and manually tighten with a hand held screw driver. I used this opportunity to get rid of 2 flat head screws as I don't normally use them to build with. anyways folks it's totally doable. And by the way, make sure your drill bits are oxide, they are black, they will drill right thru the rivet, do not use anything else or you will go what I went thru which is drill bit failure. I went and bought new oxide drill bits and finished in under an hour. right tools for the job. and yes my bolt came out of the harness as it sealed itself to the nut in the door. So I used the old dual headed screw with the new harness as lock pliers would not remove it.

How you you lower the window when it is fully up and the motor has failed so that you can drill the rivets? Any advise would be appreciated.

+Kent Pfeifer First, verify that the motor has failed. Make sure the window lock button is not set. Check for power and ground at the electrical connection of the motor, check the window switch. You can cut the window regulator cables and lower the window to the point you can remove the bolts holding the glass in place. Then follow the rest of the procedure for changing the window regulator.

On the rear passenger window, sometimes it would go up and down, and sometimes it wouldn't. Unfortunately, it stuck in the down position. There are further complications due to bad choices that require replacement of the regulator. However, are there any other possible reasons (prior to knowing the regulator has to be replaced) that could cause the window to act as if it has a "short" in it? I don't want to get everything a part to replace the regulator only to find out I need some other parts to repair the short. Thanks

I am having the hardest time removing the rivets, no matter what size drill bit i use. I event burnt out a drummel trying to get them off and I have to change 3 windows and cant even get 1 rivet off

djbred18 use a bolt with a head that will not slip thru, then use a lock washer and a nut on back and you are good to go. just stick screws in the hole until you find one that fits. sorry I don't have an accurate size.

my window regulator broke this morning. window fell into the door and shattered. I live in South Jersey near Philly and we're getting a big snowstorm tonight. I got the glass from a local junkyard but I'm ordering the regulator from 1aauto and in the meantime I'm gonna try to put the new window on the guide tracks and in the up position manually and get my metal shears and cut a slit in the metal just under the window clips on the track and pry it back so the window stays up through this storm and the week. any other little suggestions to hold the window up in the meantime? I think the guide being cut and peeled back to hold the clips up and not allow them to slide down should do the trick. anyone else done this as a temp fix until the new regulator came in? btw 1a auto rules!!!!!!
