I can't thank you enough for providing such clear and thorough videos of these proceedures. I purchased the fuel filter, the oil filter, the oil filter wrench and the oil pan valve off the links you provided. Pumped to do this maintenance and keep our Onan 5500 running like it should!

Hey guys hope all is well. Another great DYI video. Just got done putting 320 watts (two 160w panels) on the roof of my Jeep Willy's and they tilt too:) You'd be proud...will show on my channel when I get a chance. Going to be in Keene this coming week.

Thanks! Congrats on the solar panels install. What are you using them for? 😀

@@GetGonewithUS Just got the Blueitti EB150 solar generator and the Wattsfun 300W both of which have built in MPPT chargers/inverters to operate a ICECO 47qt 12v refrigerator/freezer and any other 12v or 110v items. The solar system will charge the solar generators. Also built and installed a draw system for the back of the Jeep. (9 x 33 out of 3/4 plywood) which not only looks cool but really saves space. Will put both up on my channel sometime this week:) Was going to finally order my Bay Star 3401 in couple of weeks ago until I found out the normal November factory pick-up date is now, because of supply chain issues, out to February-March 2022. Had planned on staying the winter in the new coach up in Vermont and wait to buy my home base until after the crazy prices come down a bit. Getting up there by Thanksgiving with the coach isn't going to happen now so I will have to rent something up there which is why I am going up again this week. Looking in the Andover-Weston Windsor county area.

@@legaleagleandpaws8198 Sounds like you have got some serious plans going on. Not sure we would want to spend the winter in New England living in Maggie. After taking off for the last 2 years, winter is not that appealing. LOL Good Luck!

@@GetGonewithUS I hear that there was another couple that spent a winter in Vermont in their "all season" trailer they made it. But for me selling my place on Long Island, having some part time work out of Keene and trying not to sell high and buy high I could deal with it for a few months...heck even in a house winter is not that appealing for many up there, although I do love the snow and sitting by a nice warm fireplace when its 5 degrees outside:)

Awesome Just used this video to change my fuel filter on my Onan 7K I primed it for 30 seconds and then I noticed gas leaking from behind the air filter and then it wouldn’t start. Maybe I flooded it?? Thank you for making RV life I little less daunting yall!
@GetGonewithUS2 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. Sorry to hear about your leak. I would check all the connections and try it again. We had the same problem with our lawn mower. Air filter was getting soaked and wouldn't run until it dried out. Come to find out there was a vent hole that leads to the air cleaner. Apparently we were filling the gas tank too high.

Great Video 👍 quick question, •after you took the fuel line off, you start the generator and wait until it runs out of gas ? How long will that take ? •if you let it run out of gas then after you install the new fuel filter, how can the generator start if there is no gas ?
@GetGonewithUS2 жыл бұрын
Running he generator after disconnecting the fuel allows the fuel still in the still in the system to empty. You have to press the primer before restarting the generator.

HI, I’m hoping that changing my fuel filter is what’s the problem, it started having trouble staying started, it takes 5-7 times to get it to stay started, it fires up, but only stays started maybe 6-12 seconds before it shuts down. I googled it and it said it was maybe low on oil, so I had it changed since it was due anyway, but it’s still not firing right up. This looks like something I could maybe do, I’m 73yo female, and I’m not in favor of crawling on the ground (and there’s still ice on the ground right now 😩) and working above my head, but since I’m getting minimal sun, I need to run the generator almost every day ! 😩 and I’m getting stressed not knowing if it will start. My rv is a 2012 and I’ve been able to get the oil changed at least a number of times, but I don’t know if anyone ever changed the fuel filter 🙄 Any suggestions if the fuel filter doesn’t work ? 🧐. TIA
@GetGonewithUS Жыл бұрын
HI Pat. Sorry to hear you are having issues with your generator. I would suggest putting a blanket or something similar to cover the ice. If the fuel filter doesn't do the trick. It might need a tune up or an overhaul. It's had to diagnose an issue without being there in person to see and hear what it is doing. Good Luck!
