there's actually another bolt on the side that secured the headlights tight. You'll need to remove the front bumper first. I don't know why you can remove the headlights just by removing the two 10mm bolts.

I just got done changing mine. Yeah this video sucks, there's definitely a third bolt unless that is specific to the 00 gts model. I would assume due to the age of the car the bulb had been replaced before and whoever did it didn't put that 3rd bolt in. I left mine out too because I don't wanna have to go through the fender each time. Whoever said they did it without removing the assembly has tiny hands.

YES ! There IS another bolt below the headlight. You Tube said I needed to remove the front bumper BUT I think it could be accessed by simply loosening the side and lowering it about two inches. I found a LOT of mistakes someone made so I don't regret taking it off. The clip that holds the headlight in place had shifted or I might have been able to insert bulb and clip it without doing anything else. The clip was free to move around in it's holder.

You might have mentioned having to remove, or at least loosen the front bumper to access the 10mm bolt holding the assembly from the side. Just another 45 minutes of work.

Once plastic bracket is broken it makes removing headlight assembly very easy 😁

This video did help. I experienced the same issue with the 3rd bolt hidden under the bumper. I am going to try to loosen the headlamp assembly to get a little extra room and try to replace the low beam bulb. I am working on the passenger side of the car. This video explains that the metal clip can be squeezed to release so the bulb can come out. I do not want to have to remove the bumper just to change out a bulb.

Yeah, so they completely missed a VERY important step to remove the headlight assembly. There are 2, 10mm screws that are behind the wheel well shroud. This adds about another 45 minutes to an hour of work but your light won't come out without doing so. There are 3 mounting points for these headlights and not just the 2 that they're showing.

Forgot a very important screw on the headlight assembly which is located behind the lower fender. You need to disconnect the front bumper clip which is held in by 4 bolts under the bumper and 4 under the plastic engine cover under the hood and one large plastic clip in the middle. So this video you miss that very important 10 millimeter bolt and that headlight "Will Not" come out.

My 2001 seems to be in order but the right low beam bulb points at the ground. Bulb is loose even with metal spring in place. Rubber boot is missing. Does boot hold bulb steady ?

Thanks for the video guys. I couldn't figure out that boot on the main headlight. I accidentally removed the retainer clip instead of simply releasing it (it's hard to see when installed on the car).

I have a 2004 Toyota Celica GT. I am trying to put LEDs in it. I have ordered 4 different sets and all were pointing up or just big circles. I put halogen bulbs in it still showing rings of light on a wall. What do I need to buy to get them back to normal would like leds but was told I cant put them in this car. Help

when you buy these headlights, do the new headlights come with the holding pin that holds the bulb in place to direct the light forward?

I tried following this video to change my passenger side headlamp. Thought it should be fairly easily. Unfortunately, I did not realize until later that the lens is also bolted on the bottom (need to remove bumper as indicated by other posters) so eventually I gave up and tried to fumble around by "feel" to get the new lamp in and the bale wire secured ... which is next to impossible since there is no space to work or see what you are doing. After about an hour of fumbling I managed to break off the little post on the lamp plug that the bale wire was supposed to secure to so now my headlight points into the sky. Does anyone know the part number for that plug that the lamp plugs into and where I can get a new one? Thanks.

Mine melted from a wire shortening, its called a headlight bulb adapter/retainer. yeah boot bit the mechanic say i broke it, when taking out the switch, but at the time the clip is still there latching really firm, i thought it was something dodgy he replaced it

Any headlight gets foggy after a few years, it’s just how plastic is. You can put a ceramic coating spray or something like that on the headlights every few months and that will keep them clear and stop it from going foggy and yellow.

This is nit the process for a 2003 celica, I've removed the bolts and unplugged from washer reservoir and it isn't budging, something is still holding it down

max poole Not true on all Celica's. If you have the OEM HID headlights, to change either the low beam bulb or the HID bulb, the headlight MUST come out as the compartment is not accessible any other way. Been there, tried that. The video here over simplifies the removal process. If the headlight has not been damaged or purposefully not put back correctly, there is a 3rd bolt that required you to remove the bumper cover to remove the headlight. This video used a car that didn't have it installed due to the tab being broken, or to simplify the video to sell headlights to people.

I have a 2003 celica. I have replaced the bulb many times without removing the assembly. While I lost some skin and blood in the process, I was able to do it. it is NOT easy.

hmmm. On the top of the dashboard is a small "bulb" that may monitor the amount of daylight and tell the running lights when to turn on ? Or a relay or fuse ?

Have u checked to see if they point to the ground.. and then are the lenses clean if not take to car wash and use some tire cleaner in them let them soak for about a min then rinse ofd

this video is misleading, there is another bolt on the sides and the front bumper has to be removed to get them. DONT FOLLOW THIS VIDEO OR YOU WILL BREAK YOUR HEADLIGHTS
