Thank you well explained in detail you make it look so simple but it’s not for the faint hearted to mess around with brakes. Have saved this post for future reference.

Nice to see nothing out of the ordinary when I come to do mine. From experience on Peugeots and many other cars with a sliding caliper, It is worth pulling the sliding pins out, give them a wire brush and pop back in with some copper grease applied. Years ago in a borrowed Citroen, I had to deal with binding brakes at the roadside due to seized sliding pins, which is completely avoidable if dealt with when doing pads.

Many thanks! That will make my replacement much easier. It looks like the mechanic that replaced the brakes the last time did not install the clips. That left me confused as to what the proper process was.

Hi there, so glad to find your channel. Realisitcally, what's the ownership experience like this the X350? Are they really tricky to look after? I have had plenty of MGR stuff so am no stranger to hard to get parts and tricky jobs.

Hello! The X350 was a pleasure to own, comfort was incredible. Not tricky to look after at all. The V8 engines are usually bullet proof reliable. Suspension problems are common on these but I'd highly recommend one

@@MovesLikeJaguar My 2004 has been a wonderful car. People still comment on how good looking it is and how comfortable it is to ride in. Maintenance has been really easy as well, the best vehicle by far that I have owned. As I am semi retired and don't drive that much I would like to become a one vehicle family, and the Jag isn't ideal for hauling larger or dirty loads like our old SUV. I have a tough decision ahead.

what size discs did you get? 320 or 326mm? I have the V6 2005 XJ and not sure

Can't remember to be honest, whatever the standard size was for that model, they probably differ by vin number and engine size. Mine was the V8

Good video except for the bit about letting air out from the bleed nipple,, there isn't any air in the system, when you bleed brakes you remove all air as the hydraulic fluid isn't compressible like air is... as you did loosen the nipple you will certainly need to bleed the brakes to ensure you didn't let air into the system....
@stevebullit75603 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Normally, you also don‘t have to open the brake fluid nipple for pushing back the pistons. I‘ve never done that on all of my german cars and none of them asked for in the workshop manuals. 🤷🏼♂️

Hi. What pads did You use? Do they work fine with TRW brakes? Is double piston calipper a standard in x350?
@bluetomsen82895 жыл бұрын
PS. I ment TRW discs :)
@matthewjenkins11614 жыл бұрын
@@bluetomsen8289 Just had a look on TRW's website and currently they only specify standard type replacement discs. If that is what you have, then regular X350 pads should be fine. TRW do manufacture brake pads too, so if you are concerned just buy some of those. My car is a 3 litre V6, though research suggests all except the 4.2 litre supercharged models use same breaks. Not done many miles in my car yet, have no grinding or warning lights and passed MOT without issue, but think I have a warped disc as very sight wobble barely noticeable on braking, so been checking out options. Best deal I've found is on Ebay for full set, front and rear Brembo discs and pads for £217.
