When your Lenovo IdeaPad Z51-70 laptop is not recognizing or charging a new battery and marks it as "unauthorized," it usually indicates that the battery is not compatible with the laptop. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue: Steps to Fix "Unauthorized" Battery Issue Verify Compatibility: Ensure that the replacement battery is specifically designed for the Lenovo IdeaPad Z51-70. Check the model number, voltage, and capacity to ensure they match the original battery specifications. BIOS Update: Update your laptop’s BIOS to the latest version. Sometimes, newer BIOS versions include better hardware compatibility and can recognize newer batteries. You can download the latest BIOS update from Lenovo's official support website. Reset Battery Drivers: Open Device Manager. Expand the Batteries section. Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device. Shut down the laptop, remove the battery, and disconnect the power adapter. Hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any remaining power. Reinsert the battery and reconnect the power adapter, then power on the laptop. The battery drivers should reinstall automatically. Battery Calibration: Sometimes, calibrating the battery can help the laptop recognize it. Fully charge the battery to 100%, then disconnect the power adapter and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down. Afterward, recharge it fully. Check Battery Connection: Ensure that the battery is properly connected. Sometimes, a loose connection can prevent the laptop from recognizing the battery. Lenovo Vantage Software: Install and run Lenovo Vantage, a software that helps manage system updates and can sometimes resolve hardware recognition issues. You can download Lenovo Vantage from the Microsoft Store. Genuine Lenovo Battery: If the issue persists, it's possible that the battery is not a genuine Lenovo part. Lenovo laptops often have firmware that can detect non-genuine batteries and prevent them from functioning. Consider purchasing a genuine Lenovo replacement battery from a reputable source. Additional Tips: If after trying all the above steps, the battery is still not recognized, consider contacting Lenovo support or taking your laptop to an authorized service center for further diagnosis. Always use batteries that are recommended by the manufacturer to avoid compatibility issues.
