Due to covid-19 I am doing work from home and my office laptop battery died. No repair shop was open so the only option I had was to order battery online and install it by myself. Oh my gosh! This works!! I’m not a tech savvy person but my 10 year old Lenovo battery just died completely last weekend. So I have to replace battery as other functions of my computer works perfectly, no need to buy a new laptop. Just follow all the steps on the video EXCEPT disconnecting the 3 blue things at 03:59 (thank god someone commented it below!). I have no ideas what are those 3 blue lines but you don’t need to disconnect them. The most difficult for me is to remove the keyboard and re-attach it back to laptop. I also watch this video as another reference : kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zpm8aKGbZs2mg80 Both videos work and you can do it! It takes me one hour to do it carefully! Remember I’m a history geek and this science and technology stuff seem aliens to me but I still manage! You can do it too!

for the z500, it is a slightly different procedure where underneath on the 510 you see 3 screws in the middle, there are only 2 on the z500, and you have to pull away the plastic bezel of the dvd drive to reveal 3 more small screws there

thanks for the info I am gonna change the battery of my ideapad z500 do have any suggestions on which battery I should choose ? and is it possible for us to replace the old battery with a higher capicity one ?

higher capacity is fine, as long as the voltage is the same you just have to be aware to get a good trusted seller or brand as some may have a sticker with a high capacity but its just a lie.@@mayurtummewar3312

Thanks for detailed video to change battery. But after I switched on it showed 60% battery & charging, I switched off & after tightenning all screws when I switched on battery shows 0% charging, but does not charge. Have I missed out something?

Hello there; I have this model, I turned off the laptop screen in the evening and left the pc in standby mode, when I wanted to turn on the pc after about 3-4 hours, the power button did not react at all, when I plug the pc into the charger, the charge light turns on but the pc does not turn on. (Note: Computer comfortable 7-8 years and it has never been changed, the videos I watched said that the battery may be dead, the battery can be removed and the pc can be turned on with a direct charge cable) What would you recommend? Where do you think the problem is?

yes! then only you will be able to remove the rear cover of the laptop.

Yes. because you have to remove 3 small screws, which are under DVD drive. for this, you just need to remove the DVD drive & for this you need to remove the keyboard. I have practical experience.

Thank you for your valuable question, there is no need to disconnect all the FPC's if there is only necessity of replacing battery, just remove the keyboard and unscrew screws beneath keyboard and bottom cover.
