Im practically a certified mechanic after watching all these videos and getting it done myself. 1A auto videos have been a real help. I live in Great falls MT and to get my truck in a shop I need an appt 6 weeks out. that dont work for me when I need a repair done now. KZbin certified not quite ASE. But I get it done DIY. Thanks for the videos

Don’t wanna trash 1A Auto Because I love the videos and the parts I’m a loyal customer.This video is a little misleading I have a four-wheel-drive and in this video there’s no front CV axle. It never told you that I had to be removed so it made this job look easier than what it was. Now that I know I know what to do. Like I said thank you 1A Auto I’ll order all accessible parts from you!

+jacob kokosinski Thanks for the feedback and continued support! The model in the video is a 2WD so it will be slightly different compared to the 4WD but a majority of the remainder of the video will apply to both 2WD and 4WD. Thanks for sticking with us and taking the time to leave a comment.

Thanks for making this videos, I really appreciate it... about to start on my project today May 26, 2022 at around 4:30 pm... My ball joint failed on my vehicle the other day, good thing it happened before I left the driveway right after hearing a clinging sound when I turned the steering wheel , I should have been changed it out several years ago once it was making noise each time I turned or rode over bumps etc...a very embarrassing sound each time I would come to a stop or driving along other vehicles squeaky sounds and people looking at me like "😳" dude you have a clean nice ride, but it sound like it's on springs in someone's bed... the dealer said we can fix it but since GM ball joints don't have grease fittings anymore after they discontinued them years ago the Dealership rep said, the only way I could get the grease fittings ball joints I would have to go after market which is what I did, but as he said if it's not a GM part they can't warrant the part...and I'm like okay, but it makes sense to me to have grease fittings on my vehicle to extend the life on my ball joints .. But anyway I'm going to replace the bad side as well as the other side that hasn't failed yet but is squealing as well I'm just going to do one side at a time and keep this pick'em up truck running long enough until they force us to have to buy all electric vehicles just similar to how everyone had to buy those cable boxes when they went from analog to digital television Goodness 😳 Gracious I'm barely trying to re adjust to post Covid19 pandemic from 2019-2020, and 2021.I need all the help I can get by trying to save a few pennies in my pocket, but I'm watching your (1A auto) channel and it's helpful and helping the like man out..keep them coming..these mechanics trying to tell me I might have additional things wrong and it's may cost me $1,900 to repair and replace.. I'm like 🗣))) are you out of your missing a few ball bearings mindset mind 🤔 just making up stuff with heavy duty ball joints and control arm assembly parts... don't start bringing that up when you haven't even looked at my vehicle yet.. but your easy step by step video showing the tools and wrenches that are needed for the job was simply.. this is my plan A do it myself, my plan B if I run into trouble is call a (mobile Mechanic) since I already have my parts.. to just charge me for Labor and fuel service call at my house Thanks again

I just ordered upper and lower control arms from 1aauto my lower control arms came in box with smashed and the boot that covers the ball joints was completely off on both exposing the ball joint and very little Grease I am too nervous to have these installed on my truck as I'm not sure if they are damaged at all and it's too pricey of something to just hope for the best. I just emailed 1aauto and I'm hoping they take care of this. Also I thought it came with grease fittings but it does not

How do you know whether to replace just the joint or the entire control arm?
@1AAuto5 жыл бұрын
+jet0577 If your truck has stamped steel lower control arms and not the cast iron lower arms like the truck in the video. You can replace just the ball joint. The cast iron arms must be replaced as an assembly. Additionally you can check for play in at the inner bushings. But typically it's quicker and easier to replace the lower arms.

@@1AAuto If my truck has the cast iron lower control arms, can I replace them with stamped steel ones that way next time the ball joint goes bad I can just press it out? Will it fit to the vehicle the same as the cast iron one did?

why do you have to change the whole lower cotrol arm if its cast iron? why cant you just replace ball joint?

So you get new bushings
@atomjordan3 жыл бұрын
When I was looking, the acdelco balljoints were 50 bucks a piece. The entire arm was around 85. When you also consider the 2 bushings, which would be ready for replacement, you may technically 10-20 bucks, but not really because of how much time it would take to press everything out of the arm.
