I watch all your videos. Just a quick note. Dielectric grease does not conduct electricity. It's an insulator. Please keep the videos coming.

Excellent video. Well lit, close up, and he doesn't assume any level of knowledge. Shows and explains even the smallest detail.

Is there any sort of calibration that needs to be done after a brand new one is installed?
@sandyshoremann75244 жыл бұрын
Clear concise video. If there is no MIL set for MAF, are there symptoms pointing to it becoming contaminated? Like a sag or flatspot on moderate acceleration? Another question; would you recommend a cleaning only with symptoms or a MIL, or, possibly do it every 30K miles as PM? I recently bought a used 2011 subaru outback with 65K miles on it, and I will be servicing the airbox and filter so I might as well give the MAF component a rinse with CRC MAF Sensor cleaner while I am there. Thanks! -Sandy

When you said to make sure there's no weird color in the injector wiring plug-in part, what should be done if there is a copper color for one of the prongs? I replaced the MAFS but haven't started my car yet due to the coloring of the piece that gets plugged in. Please let me know what I can do!!

Would you recommend cleaning the non-removable post-filter that is in the MAF side of the airbox assembly? Possibly a light vacuum? My car is displaying a slight to moderate lack of high -rpm power and thinking it is an air flow restriction. The car came from a dusty desert area. - Sandy

Excellent video! Suggestions to recycle fluid?
@sandyshoremann75244 жыл бұрын
Julie, the fluid evaporates in a matter of seconds, so unfortunately it ends up in the atmosphere. Luckily it is a very simple organic gas composed of isohexane then naphtha and unfortunately HFC 152a. At least it is NOT a chlorinated fluorocarbon. Short term studies have shown no toxic effects from HFC152a in continuous exposures up to 20K ppm in lab animals. - Sandy

So i have an engine hiccup/jerk or jolt on my 2013 OB 3.6R ONLY in SNOW. NO FAULTS but code reader shows a spike in the MAF Rate in Lb/min. Thoughts?

I have a 2006. Just had mine replaced at PepBoys. Sat there the entire afternoon. They did need to check slow leaks on my tires but - all afternoon and $632. It was also replaced 4 years ago.😐 I’ll say that, part of the reason I didn’t do it myself was because I’m busy, wasn’t sure if it was my leaky head gasket that I’ve been driving on for at least 2 years and because I thought it was something deep in the engine, that I knew I didn’t have the expertise to reach. But, I try to be frugal. The next time, this little lady might just do it herself.

Didn’t have it this time, but I’ve priced a new one, as a spare. I know that your video is for a newer Subaru and mine is a 2006. Do you think it’s basically the same procedure, where it’s just as accessible?

My 2007 subaru outback is having difficulty starting up during cold low temperatures weather. It will continue cranking but won't turn over. I have a new 640cca battery installed and still won't turn over. I know it's not the battery, alternator or starter issue, it's something else I can't figure it out. Maybe this mass air flow sensor would be the issue idk... Can you help me figure this out?
@1AAuto3 жыл бұрын
+Jeremy Cheng M. We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

If my check engine light came on and is throwing the MAF sensor code. Is there a point trying to clean it or should I just replace it?
@tristanschaper2814 жыл бұрын
I would think for the price of a can of MAF cleaner, and 10 minutes of time, it would be worth trying to clean it first.
@sandyshoremann75244 жыл бұрын
If you throw a code, the sensor has likely failed. But I would first check the airbox for critters and cleanliness and It's a tough bugger to get closed properly. Check the PCV fresh air connexion on the vapour separator near the throttle body. Also, unplug and inspect the terminals and re-plug the connector on the sensor. Did you go through any deep puddles and get large amount of water in the intake recently ? Good Luck - Sandy
