One could take a vise grip onto the cable crimp when taking it off which will gives it hanging weight and keeps the cable from unwinding.

It would have never in 100 years occurred to me to bend the track for any reason which is what attracted me to watch this. I hope no one uses your suggestion. I can't even imagine that turns out well. You probably should have suggested to prop that door with an auxiliary support before disconnecting the cable.

I agree, I feel like that can cause all kinds of alignment issues if not done perfectly. Good suggestion on holding the door up; I should have done that.

Thanks for the warning on those red bolts! The new wheels really make a difference in the noise!

I squirt some 3-in-1 oil over the tops of my door coil springs (for my shop. My garage uses that cursed TorqueMaster II system) every year, and not only do they stay whisper quiet, but the oil reduces wear from rubbing and buys far more life out of the springs. I've owned my house for coming up on 14 years now, and haven't had one of those coil springs pop yet. I also have no idea how old they were when I bought the place, but they sure as heck weren't new! 😂

Great to hear that you are diligent with your maintenance - that makes such a difference in the lifespan of these things. Hope you get a few more years out of it.

Probably wouldn’t hurt to put some lubricant on the stem of the new rollers before you insert them. Not on the roller, just the stem.

Great idea here, thank you.

Absolutely you can!

I would have possibly kept tension on that cable once disconnected, then cable tie it to the side rail or a near point - save you having to re roll it onto the drum... 👍

Agreed...but I only had one hand to work with since I was trying to film the process. A good idea for others though.

What is it with these stupid emojis. What the hell are you trying to say? Are you laughing at the video, agreeing with it or what? If you have something to say, say it. Using emojis is so childish.

@BobChanter As a professional garage door installer for over 30 years, I just had to laugh at your instructions for changing the bottom rollers. To the layman, it's very dangerous to remove the bottom cable. Many people have been injured doing it your way. When you reset the cable on the drum, you didn't check to see if the door was level. When you respond to your viewers, you shouldn't put them down, especially when they know what they're talking about.

@@JR-il8sq nothing like making a fool of yourself. I did not publish this video, I merely commented about stupid emojis. sounds like you want to be a victim and are pointing fingers at the wrong person. I accept your apology.
