thank you so much for this video. I took my kids to southern Utah, USA from Canada in my 74 Kombi and was able to change points off highway after watching your video. It meant that we weren't stranded and got safely to our destination. Thanks again

Excellent video. First one I've found that has a close shot where I can see what's going on, and a clear and concise explanation.

Awesome, very well done video. I really appreciate it. I'll be following your guide on my very first ignition points/condenser job this weekend.

Glad I ran across the video, very helpful. I am still curious as to why I burnt the wire coming from the points to the distributor, and from the distributor to the ignition coil. I didn't alter any of the connections, could it possibly be from just sitting around, is it something that will just go out every now and then? Thanks again.

i love this video im still running a 4G32 engine the only problem that i always encounter is the contact breaker points
@frankdavidson96752 жыл бұрын
you have wrong condenser installed that pitts the points
@frankdavidson96752 жыл бұрын
if you are having points problem that is caused by the wrong condenser installed normally there is voltage on points unless you have wrong condenser check with VW dealer for correct condenser

How do you know which way to install the rotor arm… Which way will it point towards? Since the engine was turned over to find the high end of the cam,
@justkampers Жыл бұрын
Hi, the rotor arm will only fit on the distributor shaft one way. And it should point towards number one cylinder HT lead. There is also a notch on the distributor body, which the rotor arm should line up with. Hope this helps!

my mate has an original mini cooper, he doesn't know about engines and everything, but there's no spark, so naturally I suspect the distributor it being an.old car (1990) would it be a similar process, to check the gap and clean the points, and what would the gap size be

What does it mean to “burn up the points” and how does it happen?
@justkampers Жыл бұрын
Hi, the points get burnt out due to the failing condenser. We advise changing the points and the condenser as a set.
