You probably won't see this but..... thank you... you have no idea the struggle iv been having and I can't afford the shop right now and I need a new saftey in November so I had to get this done. The old ones let go of the pins and they bounced around in the drum I thought something big happend thank God it was only thay but my shoes were also stuck on the drum so they had to be replaced I spent hours trying to put new ones on and I googled 2009 dodge nitro and it kept bringing me to other dodges and such but after 45 minutes of videos I cam across yours!!! And because jeeps and nitro have alot of the same parts I checker your video and BAM!!! EXACTLY THE SAME!!! so thank you, you got a follow and a full time supporter!!!

Thank you for fast forwarding through the entire hardest part of the job, getting this pads and spring back on and around the actuator. That’s something I really didn’t need to know, thanks. Now I’m pulling my axle.

Hey man, great video. Gonna save me a lot of time on my Liberty when I get around to it. I swore I was gonna have to pull the axle again to do it. Thanks!

Great video. Will be doing this over the weekend. Just saved me a lot of time and money (since if had to remove other things, probably would've been bringing it to the shop).

Your video was super helpful, thanks! It's not the easiest job but doable if you keep at it. The only other tool I had which helped me a bit was a t-handled hook tool which I bought from Harbor Frieght years ago thinking that someday I would need it. It's angled at the end and makes it pretty easy to attach/remove springs without vice grips. Thanks again.

Best video I’ve seen that explains and shows great detail. I wish I could see the flip up mechanism that attaches to the link coming through the backing plate and connects to the parking brake cable but great job man.

It’s very important to check the parking brake actuator and connecting rod while doing this job. If the two pivot points are seized up like mine were, the parking brake will not operate properly. Rust belt problems. Also, don’t use never/anti seize on any moving brake parts. It’s a polarizing topic but 2 of my caliper pins were completely seized to the mount and I loaded that stuff on when I installed them. Use brake & caliper grease.
@RossMelby2 ай бұрын
Mine was seized up. Once separated, I cleaned up the parts. I used anti-seize on the joint with the locking pin and lithium grease on the actuating pin, where it connects to the wire that runs up to the cab. I imagine this seized link is why I constantly had to tighten the parking brake, which caused to premature wear. Just adding on that this is an important tip.

When you change your e-brakes unless you want to do all this again in a couple of months. You do need to put anti-seize on your brake pivot so it does not freeze up and cause a lot of problems in the future.

You sure you installed that adjustment screw the right way 🤨
@davidhart19197 ай бұрын
The driver side goes up, and the passenger side goes down
@tubee2b2 ай бұрын
@@davidhart1919 Is it that way from the factory because it needs to be upside down on the left side, or, is it that way to standardize the part (one e-brake assembly instead of producing and keeping track of two) to fit either side of the vehicle ? If the adjuster fits back in the other way and it spreads the shoes, what difference does it make (other than the advantage pointed out in the video)? Also, its not due to access thru the adjustment hole because it is just as accessible either way.
@Littlelewie1513 ай бұрын
Ill admit i reused the old pins and clips. i HATE the kind you have to turn.

@djustice99482 жыл бұрын
@@JDCarsChannel there's usually a hole in the back side of the backing plate that line up with that star adjuster thing to adjust it without taking the wheel off. If its upside down now the hole wont line up with the star adjuster. Maybe it wont be that big of a deal.
@budlanctot3060 Жыл бұрын
@@djustice9948 I agree. It might be a problem in the future if you can't access that adjuster gear with a screwdriver to back off the adjuster wheel so you can remove the drum/rotor in the future.
