Your videos are helpful, informative, just enough detail without leaving out important stuff. The torque specs (as found on Amsoil site) are 20 ft-lb on transfer case (fill and drain plugs) and 22 ft-lb on manual transmission (fill and drain plugs). I appreciate you, brother.

I actually enjoy fluid changes like this. They're fairly easy to do, and I find watching the fluid drain out soothing. It's also a nice feeling driving around the vehicle knowing that they're all fresh fluids in the drivetrain. I bought a fluid transfer pump for like 7 bucks from my local discount store tool section, and it made filling the transfer case and differentials so much easier. I just poured the quarts into a clean 1 gallon container, and just filled from that.

Aftermarket driveshafts greased, transmission and transfer case fluids changed, went ahead with front differential fluid too… stopped there and started taping/painting my Metalcloak diff covers so they’re ready for the next project-4.5” lock ‘n load plus HD steering with all parts sitting right in my garage. For reals: I’ve appreciated all of your videos. Entire Metalcloak overline system plus routine maintenance plus lift and steering next… *cheers* and hope to see you out there some day. Just changed all my fluids in the drivetrain: differential fluid, 6-speed manual transmission fluid, and of course the transfer case fluid. Almost 78,000 miles on the fluid and it all came out as clean as when new. I use Amsoil products as replacement fluids. Best there is.

Great video! After seeing this, I changed the fluid in mine yesterday! I needed to buy a T55 torx bit for the fill plug. For the skid plate, I removed the two back bolts and one front bolt. I loosened the other front bolt, and then just rotated the skid plate out of the way without having to remove it completely. This made it very easy! Thanks for the advice and encouragement!

If I remember correctly, from the 2 years I worked at a Mopar dealership... ATF+4 is a full synthetic ATF (at least that's what is says on Mopar bottles). While like a Dexron 3/ Mecron is not full synthetic.

Question on semi vs full. When ordering from Amazon via the link in the description, they shipped full synthetic vs the semi that you used in the video. Will the full work or does it need to be the semi? Thanks
@AutoEdits
@AutoEdits Ай бұрын
Good question... after a bit of research I found the semi (used in this video) is a little more universally compatible to older vehicles but the FULL synthetic is actually far superior in quality and is better for use in these Jeeps. I will actually order that next time... so thanks for that little inspiration for better knowledge!

I''ve not been able to find many videos of this full process on a newer JL. So watching yours gives me an idea, except I won't need to use gasket maker sealant. Oh, and your diff covers are awesome. Love your channel. It has inspired some fun projects in the garage. I am a relative newbie to working on vehicles though. Any chance you’d be willing to do a diff fluid change on that beautiful rig of yours? I followed your vids while doing a fluid change for the transmission and transfer case on a 2008 Sahara JKU (manual, of course) with 75,000 miles. I even read some of those crazy forums and did a coolant flush on my own. But I’m honestly a little intimidated and not sure I’m ready to start messing with those pumpkins. Any advice is appreciated; even if it’s “take it to the dealer to be serviced” haha

@@marinellym8444you can tell by checking on the center console if you have a big ol lever with some markings next to it of which some will read "4L" and "4H". That's a "2 speed" transfer case.

Point of Order: @~7:40 you say "...NPT style thread which means it's National Pipe Thread..." This is not correct. NPT Stands for "National Pipe Taper." There is also NPS which stands for "National Pipe Straight." It's the "P" which means "Pipe" that calls out "Pipe" Thread. NPT threads are typically used on connections that you want to seal mechanically (e.g. water pipe); NPS Threads are typically used where mechanical strength of the connection is more important than the "seal" (e.g. electrical conduit thread)... FYI...

Hey man can i do the transfer case change before changing the transmission fluid? Do the fluid mix at all?
@AutoEdits
@AutoEdits 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. They don't mix at all if everything is operating correctly. The transfer case fluid has a shorter service interval as well.

No, you do the transmission separately.
