Thanks for the video. I just put a new 42410-0E050 wheel bearing from Bosch Toyota South (US) on the back of our 2012 Highlander Base AWD and kept un-pausing this video as I went to watch the different steps. I had to cold grind a flat side bevel on a chisel to get that axle nut un-bent. If anybody is ordering parts for this repair, highly recommend having a new spindle nut on hand and a dedicated spindle nut socket. My 12-pt 30mm had triangle teeth, the dedicated spindle nut socket has more rounded teeth.

Great video and helped me a ton. Mine wasn't nearly this easy though. After hitting the old wheel bearing with a hammer for a while trying to get it off, I went and got a puller with a slide hammer. Two pulls and it came right off. If anyone else has the same problem get yourself one of these.

Great video! Love the Highlander! Have 2 myself. Snap On is a waste IMHO. Never understood buying them. I don’t care how nice it is. Vanity tools. Tekton does just fine for me. Lifetime guarantee like almost everyone has these days. For this socket - Tekton ~$15. Snap On ~$65. Over 4 times as much. Yeh….

We own an 06 Highlander Limited 3.3lt, has 314k, runs great. I changed a front wheel bearing, its not the same as the back bearings its a press on bearing. So, you can buy the knuckle or just the bearing. I bought the bearing removal/install tool kit and did it myself. You can take it to a shop. I like to do my own maint. You will need long extensions for pressing the bearing out/in. They tell you not to use drills on the bearing tool drive screw because it strips the screw.

If you buy a toyota land cruiser 100 series those still use spindles and re packable wheel bearings. They were made all the way up to 2007 but are pretty pricey nowadays since there's a big land cruiser tax on all of them lol

Pete, do you recommend tightening the axle nut while it's in the air but waiting until the wheel is back on the ground when you torque it? They way they don't fight it in the air.. We know you only did it this way to show us and the camera easier so you don't have to do another camera angle setup.
