Thank you! I haven't found a channel yet that has explained this so simply, you just saved me like $300!!!

What this video doesn't show is that there's usually also a metal bracket, bolted to two holes either side of the yellow release catch and one hole just above (underneath the cable to the anti-theft microswitch). This bracket sits 'on top' of the latch mechanism and holds the bonnet/hood airbag crash sensor. You will therefore also need a T30 or large flat-headed screwdriver to remove those screws before loosening the latch assembly. Pause the video at 0:26 and you will see one of the holes by his thumb, the other on the opposite side and the third is one of the holes in the bulkhead to the right of his fingers. Once unbolted, it's simple to unclip the microswitch and the crash sensor, then unbolt the latch assembly. For my UK Mk7 Fiesta ST, the replacement latch assembly with the anti-theft microswitch is FINIS 1813551 (engineering part number C1BA-16700-BE), I paid £65 from a genuine Ford parts supplier. If you're removing for the first time, the bolts and nuts may have rusted or seized, so some WD40 and IPA solvent to clean the rust off would be useful. Not essential though. Another really good video guys, you've done so many useful DIY repair videos for the Mark 7 Fiesta which have come in very useful, greatly appreciated. I don't know if your car didn't come with the bracket or if you forgot to include that step, but it's not a huge deal :-) Just useful to know you'll need one extra tool.

There are two different P/N's called out. One is with antitheft and one without. This video shows the one without but you are right the antitheft one is different. If you replace yours with new you 'll also need to replace the pigtail as the connector has been "improved" by Ford.

@@robertgary3561 any idea what the improvement is? just better weatherproofing?

I daily drive my Fiesta ST and it’s on her 9th winter. I had the hood latch replaced 1 time already under warranty due to it being extremely corroded. Well I just went to put wiper fluid in it now during a snow storm and the hood latch cable popped out. I was able to use this video to figure out how to get it back in place!

Do you have any videos on how to replace the latch cable? I’ve been through all the videos I can find one about it. I’ve replaced the latch which was corroded but the cable is at fault too - double whammy!

It would be helpful if you include the bracket that sits on top of the latch as mine has bracket sat on top 1st so doesn’t quite follow it’s like there’s a step missing

Is there a way to open the hood manually, if it is closed and locked and the wire is not attached to the latch? I have a 2011 Fiesta SE? Can you make a video showing that process?
@CptLongbeard955 жыл бұрын
Did you get it sorted? I've got the same problem on my 2016 fiesta st180

I have the same issue on a 2016 Ford Focus. Hood is latched and there doesn't appear to be access from below to pop it open manually...

Okay. Same here on a Focus 2013 SE. Somebody ever got a solution? 🙄

Same problem
@robertgary35614 жыл бұрын
Yes. There is an access hole behind the logo. Pry the logo off and you can push the manual release with a screw driver. The same level the cable pulls.

What is the panel called that the hood latch is attached to, please?
@noobpro97593 жыл бұрын
Hood got stuck shut. Wouldn't pop. Had to take off my bumper, belly plate, and had to cut a hole to reach these bolts. Just so I could open my hood and charge the battery.

Can you do one for a kia soul 2010?
@robertgary35614 жыл бұрын
Haha. I feel the frustration but no you don’t need to cut anything. It does take a 3rd degree skill in rotation snd moving around. But it does wiggle out just s takes a lot of wiggle and rotating.

How do initially open the hood if it was broken

Through the logo hole. Pry the logo off and there is an access hole.

Such a shame, the most important bit of this video was the actual part, once removed has been hidden by ads for other vehicles - this video is virtually useless!
