This video shows you how to install a right front CV axle shaft on your 2004-2010 BMW X3. A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. If your vehicle needs a new CV axle, install a quality TRQ axle that is engineered to your vehicle’s specifications.
This repair was done on a 2007 BMW X3 3.0si 3.0L Sport Utility 4-Door AWD and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Taking the knuckle off the strut was a really bad idea! Feeding that knuckle back onto the strut took me days to maneuver!!!

Removing the LCA bolt from the subframe to free up the wheel assembly will make removing the strut from the knuckle 10x easier. Also prevents you from over rotating the CV joint on your brand new axle when reassembling the strut/knuckle assembly. It's just one bolt and it will save hours of headache. (Also that knuckle is cast and very brittle to impact. I would definitely use a wood 2x4 as a buffer or a deadblow instead of a solid steel hammer directly on the knuckle.)

use some grease around the strut man , as use the axle tool remoaval instead all of the hammering the front rotor side

im doing this job on my e46 330xi and the passenger side axle comes to a solid stop about a half inch from the diff. aside from the part being defective, is would there be any other reason why it wouldnt fully seat? ive struggled with this for hours now and the drivers side had no issue

Bet the spline part was slightly longer than OEM. Not the best but not the worst. The axle seal will still do it's job to keep out fluid. As long as the axle keeper ring is in place.
