I highly recommend using an annular cutter to cut the solid rivet heads off. It takes like 2 minutes with cutting oil. Then use an air hammer to knock the rest out. Takes 4-5 minutes per rivet.
@TheMinuteMasters

Doesn’t an annular cutter need to be mounted in a drill press to function effectively?

I used a ball burr on an angle grinder. Grind a big crater in the center of the rivet and use the air chisel to knock the head off.

Use a ball burr on an angle grinder slightly smaller than the rivet shank. Grind a crater in the center of the rivet head. Sheer off the head with an air chisel. Sand down flush with a 4” flap disk or grinding wheel. Knock out rivet. Way easier and quicker.

Very instructive as usual. One may find it easier to undo the brake lines from the coil tower before it is loose from the frame. Two of these I have done included upgrading to the quad shock type towers. Having done this to several trucks I would also suggest inserting the bolts from inside the frame and installing the nuts on the outside. There is clearance if the correct length of bolt is used and allows one to easily see if one or more of the nuts works loose over time.
@TheMinuteMasters

I've done 2 of these. Stevie said it right... once the rivets are out its a cake job. 1 trick i have found out, the new pockets are thicker steel than the old ones which sometimes makes the brake line clips not fit. A good remedy for this is to put a small hose clamp on the backside fitting. It will maintain tension and not allow your line to come thru the hole. Otherwise you have to fab new clips.
@TheMinuteMasters

Thanks Joshua! That’s a good tip! I think mine fit and I can’t remember how my brother’s worked out.

Great video! Theres a quick and easy way to get those rivets out too. If you cut a plus sign deep enough into the rivet head it will section the head into four pieces almost like cutting a pizza. From there just hit it with the peen side of a ball peen hammer and itll plop right out. It saves alot of the cutting blade and alot more time. Keep at it. Would like to see you two work together and fix up his truck now. Itd make a great series!

Here's another mini project that you might want to make a video for. I bought my towers off the net, they didn't come with bumpers like the genuine FORD towers do but genuine Ford are double the money. I am going to try to save the old bumpers. The old ones are rusted on solid. Either I am going to cut them off the old towers and give them a soak in PB Blaster to brake the bolt or.. grind the bolt heads off and tap a new whole. Wish me luck :)

Tom, you're in extremely good hands having the minute MASTER show you the ropes. I'm heading over to check out your channel and subscribe. Now, that '64 landau with the 390. NICE!! Love those with their sequential back lights and wraparound back seat, thermometer speedometer, tilt away wheel etc. Had a couple of those and oddly enough, I looked at a '66 landau yesterday with 64K miles locally. Gorgeous car, but I just can't get into the '66 compared to the '65, '64 all the flare birds, square birds and of course the 55-57 baby birds. Sure do appreciate your time and efforts guys. Your videos have been very valuable. I've replaced the shock towers, springs, radius arm brackets, radius arm bushings, axle pivot bushings, front brake lines (stainless steel) upper and lower ball joints-left and right, removed all major components, grinded all the rust off them, painted them with Eastwood Encapsulator PLUS, waiting for warmer weather to paint the frame. I even bought the same exact shock absorber you recommended - front and rear. Your brothers and my truck are the same color... Electric Red. We have another thing in common, we both drink beer after we get done with a project phase. Thanks for all the advise bro.

Interesting and informative video too bad you don't have a air hammer air chisel I would make things easier and too bad you don't have some rust paint either por-15 or i e s 1500 to clean and paint that frame rail before you install the spring bracket and you probably should have purchased towing package Springs or some Springs that were new and probably leveling spring to reinstall while you got all that apart that would have been ideal and also you want to look at the camber bushing you may need an adjustable one or replace and how about the bushing at the back of the radius arm was that looked at or on the other end of the suspension arm that both to the middle crossmember that probably should be addressed as well and everything should be coded and cleaned and painted with Rusty before reassembly
