I like the video. You explain things really well and clearly, easy to understand. You did a great job on the project. I myself am working on a 71' chevy c20 and have zero previous experience with welding, cutting, fabing sheet metal. Keep the videos coming !

Man if you hadn’t told me that that was your first time doing this, I wouldn’t have believed you. Wow. That is top notch work for sure. 😮👍🏻

Nice job on the video and the truck, watching a beginner do this work makes me comfortable (as a beginner) to get busy on my 1975 Blazer.

I was looking for tips for my old Bronco2 and your use of those gap spacers was exactly what I was looking for. Haven't done any welding in many years and back then it was pipe welds, so not much experience with thin metal. Greatly appreciate your tips.

Professional work, and as others have said, inspiration to tackle my own car. Now, this is not a criticism, but I would like to see also how you actually cut out the old rusted metal. What you used, how to get a straight cut, etc. And from that, the equipment you used to weld it. I don't know if the speeded up video could be slowed down to show that, but just an idea. Again, fabulous work!!

Thank you! Maybe on the next truck I can do a more in depth video.

I gotta tell ya. If this is your second time doing this, you are so damn good at it. Yea, theoretically it's not rocket science but until you have done one, it's very daunting. Now I must look back and check out what welder you are using because your tack welds look really pro. Hands of Gold for sure. Makes me want to try it.

So you cut the inner rocker out, then butt welded the new piece in is that correct?
@champlingarage Жыл бұрын
Yes I cut out the inner rocker and the outer piece of the floor. Then I butt welded the entire new piece in. The new piece was the outer floor and inner rocker as one

Can't learn or see much when you run in fast forward.
@champlingarage Жыл бұрын
The only fast parts are me cutting and welding. If I left all that in real time the video would be hours long. This was also my learning experience so I was very slow with my work anyways.

It's the hard part, facing it, adjusting your plan as things develop that viewers wish was easy to copy. But when a guy does this, it kind of comes together because you're in it. Your explanations are good. There's a flat vertical piece behind that you see after getting in. A person needs to add that to his order of parts. My question is, how do you kill the rust you didn't replace, how did you treat the sections before the POR 15? Is it spray, brush on, or the evaporust liquid wash, or have you just welded it back together and left it in there and a layer of POR-15 applied to it like a skin? Sorry I didn't see. Hope it's not a dumb question. Looked like a nice job outwardly.
