Thank you so much for your detailed video on how to replace the heating element. I followed your directions step by step, ordered the same heating element kit you did from Amazon, and successfully replaced the unit. The only thing I could not do was to put the heating element back in without removing the drum. I was a little apprehensive about this but was able to do it successfully. Bottom line...we're drying clothes again! Thank you, Micah, for literally saving me a few hundred $$'s on a repair bill and even more if we decided to buy a new dryer. Very appreciative of you taking the time to post this information. 🙂

Great video tutorial. This is the second time I've replaced the element in mine, but certainly needed the refresher course. Just FYI, the two screws that are different on the face of the dryer is for swapping the door to the other side of the dryer (it's ambidextrous). 😀

Great explanation. What is the trick to releasing the tabs from under the dryer that connect the metal housing under/ in front of the heating element. The unit is loose, but can’t get the carriage free because of the tabs. I’m ready to bend them. Help please

I had to bend mine. It's okay if you do, they easily bend back into place.

Hi. Thx for the video. I did this 2 years ago with the drum removed for easy access to heating element. This time I tried your way and got stuck when trying to get the heating element out. Even if I managed to get it out, I did not see how you put it back where the circular end of the heating element enclosure has to fit in the back with tabs - which one will be doing blind (can't see the back) I very much would like to do this without removing the drum. Can you explain how you were able to align the backend of heating element enclosure and get it fitted?
@MicahMartinDIY2 жыл бұрын
Mine heating element housing went in very nicely and I was able to align it by feel without removing the drum. Good luck!
@shankil29752 жыл бұрын
@@MicahMartinDIY I had to phone a friend and he was able to pit the element back in a couple of min. It is tricky but if you can pull it off, saves a ton of time removing the drum. Excellent video

Great video. I have the same dryer and I got everything apart, but I couldn't get the heating element to detach from the back and pull out. Any advice on what I should do to detach it?
@MicahMartinDIY10 ай бұрын
It has some tabs that hold it in. It's okay to bend that think metal if needed. It will bend back.
@MichaelLee158710 ай бұрын
So come to find out the stand wouldn't come out because it was screwed into the heating element shell and the shell wouldn't come out because it had a screw into the bracket at the back, were they supposed to be screwed in?

The blue wire is also fried and come to find out it's missing screws...I bought this used a few years ago

You wouldn't happen to know where I could get that replacement blue wire that connects from the thermostat to the heating element? I went to Lowe's and they were of no help.

Ok this gave me the confidence to try it out myself! I notice the « cooling » light is still on even after you’ve replaced the element. Mine is not producing heat and the « cooling » light stays on, but I thought this was some sort of error code. Shouldn’t this display change once you’ve fixed the issue?
@MicahMartinDIY2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you are tackling it! No, "cooling" is a feature. It cools the clothes down by blowing unheated air at the end of the cycle while continuing to spin. This way your clothes wrinkle less from being left in the dryer.

Amazon parts are crap, cheap but crap. My brother in law replaced the thermistor and heating element with Amazon parts. Replaced the thermistor when he gifted me his dryer and now I am having to replace the element in less than a year!
@MicahMartinDIY Жыл бұрын
Oh man, that sucks! I hate having to redo stuff. I would definitely pay close attention to the reviews when buying from Amazon.
@BlueYodaTex Жыл бұрын
Amazon doesn't care about quality control, they just care about reviews. Most people that post reviews do it within a week of their purchases. If the product is going to fail it will be in the first 3 to 9 months after they've already posted there good review. Amazon maybe cheaper, but my time and the downtime of whatever appliance I'm having to work on is worth more to me. Reputable appliance repair stores carry most parts you will need, but if not ask about a reputable dealer you can order from. A little more money saved a lot of down time and your time of having to replace parts again and again.

For some reason, my dryer had a LOT of lint buildup within my lint trap, so I opened the lint trap ( I didn't unscrew anything or take open the actual dryer) and it smelled bad ever since? Any tips
@MicahMartinDIY Жыл бұрын
I'd start with a good brushing. Search for dryer lint brushes on Amazon. Then I'd go ahead and clean your vent. You can DIY that one too. If you have a cheap flex hose, just replace it. Lint build up in the folds and can cause moisture to stay there and have odor.

That is very odd. In my experince, the heating element is what goes out most commonly. Is the blower running?
