same here; my top panel is cracking and leaving metal rusty fragments in the soap/softer tray. Every time the lid opens, it rubs against the top panel and creates more debris. I'll have to check on those hinges (could be why the lid is rubbing against the panel).

@@JodyHeath Mine has been doing the same thing. Rusted out coating chipping all along under the backside of the lid and the inner top edge. I hate to buy a whole new one just because of that. Been thinking about maybe disassembling the lid and sandblasting it then powder coating it or something. It's gotten ridiculous.

Jose, Don't Knock the man! He was just illustrating how Careful you must be when doing this because, you could drop them in the Washer tub holes and would be quite a challange to retrive them!

I seem to have an older model with 4 clips and 2 sets of nuts and bolts holding the top on. I need to replace the shocks and cannot figure out how to get to these nuts and bolts to remove the cover, no less replacing them when it is time to put the lid back on.

You would need to replace the top cover and lid, but the top cover is discontinued and no longer available.

Do you happen to have a video or explanation on how to remove the display panel? Or the rear part of the display panel? While I was working on the top of mine, I accidentally allowed the lid to slide off the back and it sliced one of the small green wires that leads back down to the bottom of the machine. Now if trying to figure out how to splice or reconnect that wire, because at the moment my washer will not drain any water. It still starts a normal cycle, but when it gets to the drain part of the cycle, it sits and does nothing…

Beware, after trying it this way I discovered two rubber plugs at the front under the lid that if you removed then you just unscrewed and the lid lifted right off.

Same one that is in the video there are 2 small rubber pieces on the inside of the lid on each corner that keeps the lid from banging when you close it sort of a rubber bean shaped rubber inserts those
