Well I'll be dipped in pink frosting! That was pretty slick of you. And warm, it looked frigid there, just no snow!

Great video! I have 175,000 miles on my 2012 Rav4 V6 and I need to do this soon, even though the OEM belt looks OK.

Sounds like a fun project, I can't wait to hear about your progress on it when you are ready to do the job. Wishing you success

@@edtheoldtechguy I'm going to order the parts soon from an OEM Toyota dealer (bought from them before) and probably going to replace the radiator hoses too (that does not look like it's easy). I hope to get 300,000+ miles out of this vehicle.

It is a very good instructional video. What was the reason the serpentine belt was repalced? Thanks
@edtheoldtechguy Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 😊 Replacement of the belt was at customer request. I mentioned that there was still life on the belt, but a shop marked that it should be replaced as there was an unknown noise. After I replaced the belt, the noise continued, so I diagnosed the issue that needed to be repaired. I did not charge for diagnoses and repair.

Thank you for the reply, My Rav4 make some whining noise from when idle. Particularly near the belt. But it was there for a week then vanished on it own. @@edtheoldtechguy

Can anyone tell me if I am correct have whole belt on just can’t get it in the alternator I lose the tension doesn’t do nothing means have replace the pulley right
@edtheoldtechguy Жыл бұрын
Happy to help. The best way to do it is to place the belt on all of the ribbed pullies follow this, start putting your belt on the alternator --around the - condenser - then to the -- crankshaft around the tensioner pully (not ribbed) --- then water pump but don't place the belt on the idler pulley, see diagram shown at 1:23 of this video for reference. Now with your flat bar and socket pull on the tensioner and release the tension on the belt and slip the belt under the idler pully, You can do this from the top of the car with one hand and using your hands to feel the belt and pullies The reason we leave this pully for last is it smooth (not ribbed) and it just slides under with slight pressure. Hope this is what you need!

Does anybody know if this diagram will work with the 2006 Toyota RAV4 6 cylinder?

Take a moment to compare your belt routing to this diagram. m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0WJaSNEyjCzvvF3Jxc8Uaz5J7GNym8C2t12sbp29QMxYPaQWztdnqG6L21ka3V46Wl&id=100042929413061&mibextid=Nif5oz

Thank you for replying. I checked out the link you sent me. None of those diagrams are matching my rav4 2006 V6. What that mean that what you showed in your video would be what I have to go with?

Definitely needs an engine detailing.

How much do you charge to do a nasty v6 belt like this?

My rates are very reasonable. I support a small amount of private clients. Are you in Illinois?
