I have never had a set of “pre-gapped” plugs actually set to the correct gap out of the box.

I got some NGK spark plugs for my civic not too long ago. All 4 came gapped at .40 perfectly out of the box..looked online and the official gap was .44 😂

I tried removing one spark plug but it just kept squeaking after several turns. it doesn't feel as loose so I hope I haven't cross threaded it. what do I do?

I’d say every annual service but it all depends if you do loads of miles

Most places recommend 30k miles but if you’re doing a service yourself you may as well do spark plugs whilst at it
