This video was great, thanks! It helped me tackle this daunting task in just over 2 hours. Having a universal joint socket and a few various extensions to go on a normal spark plug socket was definitely the key. Regarding dielectric grease; I use it to prevent spark leakage and spark tracking inside the plug boot. GM and Ford were bad about that, leaving a carbon track inside the boot causing misfire. No reason Dodge wouldn’t do the same, so use it. The terminal inside the boot will fit over plug , and the grease will not interfere .

Thank you for an other great video. I have watched some of your other videos and they were great as well. I have a question regarding the reason I am thinking of changing my spark plugs. My truck has 131000 miles on it, I bought it used so I am not sure if the plugs have been changed or not. The truck feels like it has a misfire or what I would describe as a surging or a hesitation while I am driving almost like a subtle bucking. When I first start out from a spot light, it definitely bucks more noticeable but then goes into the more subtle bucking. I have no check engine light on and I have run it on a scanner with no DTC's. It feels like a misfire to me so I am thinking it could be the plugs or maybe the coils. Your thoughts? Is there a way to check the coil to see if maybe one has gone bad? It has been doing this for a while now and I am concerned it will cause damage. I'm not sure if this is the forum to as questions like this because I don't see any recent comments but I am hoping someone is monitoring your channel and can give me some help or direct me to the right spot. Thank you in advance.

You say to replace the spark plug if it doesn’t meet the gap. So, what you’re saying is that and entire set of 16 gapped at .035 versus .040-.044 should be returned. Even though they are the exact same that we’re pulled out and called for by the manufacturer.
@westernapache1700
@westernapache1700 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for not putting any type of anti-seize on the spark plugs. Notice that NO manufacturer uses it at the factory. Reason being, is that it will change the torque reading installation and increase the possibility of over-torquing. If the spark plug is over-torqued, the shell can stretch. If the metal shell stretches, the heat transfer from the ceramic firing end is reduced. When the firing end gets too hot, pre-ignition can occur. Pre-ignition is what put holes in pistons. Bad deal for sure. If someone puts too much anti-seize on, it can also melt and run down on the ceramic - which will cause a mis-fire (anti-seize is full of metal).
@terryb4563

On torque of plugs you say 13 max 15 ftlb, what I have read is that is for 08 and older where 09 to 18 is 18.5 ftlb to 22.5 ftlb, am I mistaken?
@bernie472
@bernie472 3 жыл бұрын
No. Your correct. 13' model year and older with copper or platinum plugs is 13-15 ft pounds. 14' and up with NGK Iridium plugs is 18-22 ft pounds. But if the Iridium plug your using has a tapered end, instead of a metal gasket, only then your supposed to torque it down to 14-15 ft pounds.

Good video here ....Ram dealer mechanic told me to gap to 0.040 and use 15 lb/ft torque..use an old tooth brush to clean the dust off boots ..use a little dielectric grease inside boots..

I have a 2011 Ram 1500, and according to the owners manual on the Hemi motor's the plugs should be changed out every 30.000 miles, do you agree with this, I already swapped the plugs out at the first thirty thousand, the truck now has 62 thousand on the clock, what are your thoughts on this?

Joe Marco if you used copper plugs then yes, you should change them every 30k.

I mean, Rams with the 5.7 have 16 spark plugs. At least these ones were easy to get too.

Just swapped my plugs. She is still a lil shaky but not AS shaky so my next course of action is to replace all the coil packs, then the exhaust manifold w/ busted bolts'. Which 1 should I do next to get rid of shake? Like when I turn it on I just want it to idle steady @ 900. TBH they sold it to me all rode out w/ 60k miles 2 prior owners before I got it.

+The Truth We'd suggest reading the service section of your owner's manual for the manufacturers suggested service intervals.
