Just finished....took 4 hours...definitely a pain in the ass but not impossible....your also gonna need a mirror and a light because you literally cannot see those bolts on the manifold without one....I would suggest doing your ignition coils at the same time...thank you a million for putting this out there

Good video, really nice that you listed all the torque specs. I'm not one to do anything until i have to but the other day my truck developed a little stumble so I checked the codes and it had misfired on number one and since that plug can be removed with the intake on I changed it just to go ahead and see how the old plug looked. Well my truck has 92k miles on it and the old plugs were very well worn so I got by a couple days and I didn't want to do it but I knew I needed some time when nobody would interrupt me and reluctantly went ahead with it Easter Sunday afternoon afternoon. All turned out well but this is no job for a novice or impatient person or someone without all the right tools. It helps to be tall, long armed and flexible. Well I'm a fairly seasoned mechanic with all the right tools, tall and long armed but not too flexible anymore! Took me about 5 hours but I had to take numerous breaks. Some Nissan engineers definitely need a whipping for this one! It'll definitely make you wish even more that you hadn't had to settle for a Nissan because you just cant afford a Toyota!

Could you skip step 10, do step 11 and 12, and then go back to step 10? I was curious if there was a specific reason.

You absolutely can do that method. Some order of steps were based on preference or proximity. You can definitely skip step 10, do 11 and 12, then go back to 10. Great question!!!

@mcgurrentertainment

That's a great question. Per the manual, the Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning must be performed each time the harness of the electric throttle control actuator is disconnected. The cool part is that the procedure is to turn the ignition on then off. Good spot and attention to detail.

Why the PCV valve too? is there a service interval for that too or is it a 'might as well change it while im there' kinda thing
@mcgurrentertainment
@mcgurrentertainment 11 ай бұрын
Great question. Alittle bit of both. The PCV Valve is supposed to be checked every 30k (not necessarily replaced). After doing research, some PCV valves lasted approximately 50k miles (however most are typically longer), and this one was an OEM valve. So, to be proactive, this was a cheap and convenient replacement. It seemed like a good idea to change it out during the spark plug replacement intervals.

I took my time to ensure no mistakes and I enjoyed doing it. One question... when I disconnected the right ETC Actuator water hose, I lost a LOT more coolant than on your video. Probably like a cup or maybe even a pint. Will this be a major problem? Where would I add more coolant to make up for what was lost? I wasn't sure if it's simply from the radiator or if it's a different separate reservoir altogether. Again, thanks for such a thorough tutorial!

@@mcgurrentertainment Update: I just inspected the injectors and replaced all the spark plugs and coils (and PCV valve). Runs well now. I would recommend a light and mirror to see the 3 bolts and 2 nuts on the left. I accidentally loosened a wrong bolt, but I think it was just a ground, so easy enough to reattach. Also, I would just loosen the bolt by itself on the right so the grommet doesn't fall off when you pull the intake assembly off. Overall a very detailed video. Loaded it on my laptop, put it on my bench and rewatched step-by-step as I did the work. I tend to buy cars and trucks and keep them for a long time; I'm going to look closely at the access to the coils and spark plugs on vehicles I buy in the future. @@mcgurrentertainment I'm just getting back from the store to remove the broken plug with screw extractors. Hopefully I didn't do serious damage and can get it working again. I'll update...

I am unable to get the break booster hose off, is it absolutely necessary to remove that hose to make room to change the spark plugs?
@mcgurrentertainment
@mcgurrentertainment Жыл бұрын
It may not be, I haven't tried it without removing the hose. If you have room to work and it doesn't damage the hose, I can't see an issue.

@@mcgurrentertainment Thank you for your response! I was able to leave the Brake booster line connected, it did limit the mobility of the Manifold, but it was negligible compared to the amount of effort that would have been needed to remove the brake booster line (for me). I went from having P0300 & P0301 codes on Friday to having (so far) none today following your video. thank you for the "explain it like I'm 5" step by steps video. I hope this video continues to help others!

I'm very glad the video helped. Lol, I used to write procedures for different companies, and I guess it carried over to the youtube channel. 😅 that was funny

Hi there, you recommend me to change the coils at once?
@mcgurrentertainment
@mcgurrentertainment Жыл бұрын
Ignition Coils are typically replace as needed type of part, meaning you replace them when they are faulty. Sometimes, this parts can fail due to poor manufacturing or simply bad luck. However, if the vehicle is seasoned and has high mileage, then I may change them all at once. Typically with high mileage vehicles, when one fails, the others are not far behind. Is that what you were asking?

Did you mean to say "fortunately", because it's unfortunate if you have to remove all these parts and fortunate if you don't.

Why do I need to depressurize the fuel pump?
@mcgurrentertainment
@mcgurrentertainment Жыл бұрын
Great question. The idea is to prevent fuel from being dispersed from the fuel line if it's disconnected (intentional or accidental).

You can leave it, I took it off so I wouldn't lose it. My luck seems to allow me to drop/snap off items and fall within a great hiding spot in the engine bay.

@@mcgurrentertainment unfortunately the way i did it, i did not disconnect any hoses so im working at a angle where i can lift the manifold and get to the spark plugs but that fuel injector clip is stopping me from lifting it lmao

@@mcgurrentertainment by chance are you suppose to lift up or down on that small clip to remove it

If you're trying to remove the fuel line, I would recommend a "Fuel Line Quick Disconnect Tool." It will help lift the connector upward.
