Thanks for making this video, extremely helpful! I appreciate the fact you did all eight cylinders it gave me a good idea of what to expect when I installed new plugs on my 4.7L Tundra engine, it went flawlessly.

I appreciate you showing the whole process even if it was repetitive. As an inexperienced person like myself it helps to see the whole process. I do have one question and it's probably a dumb question. Does it matter in what order you replace the spark plugs?

Never use antisieze on spark plugs. I learned my lesson the hard way. I broke a spark plug in my Honda Civic a few years back, I had no choice but to replace the engine.

Thanks for another great video on the Sequoia. I hope your channel does well. Being that the plugs weren’t too bad looking did you notice any gains from changing them at that point? It just seems at the price point and work involved even if they’re minimal it’s worth it.

@@backyardchevy328 Thanks for that information. One question, does the PCV valve require a crush washer? I was online looking at a few of them and none of them come with one. If it does need one do you know the size offhand?

I have a '05 sequoia and I purchased Denso Iridium TJ and they say pre-set they are pre-set but they are in the box at .35 however the manual states they should be but .44. Should i set as prescribed in the manual are see what they are individually set as i replace and install? BTW, the video is exceptional and easy to follow comprehend and understand.

What’s the gap size you did on the new spark plugs ?
@sieve5
@sieve5 Жыл бұрын
New plugs don't need to be gapped, checking it though is a good idea. Plug gap for a 2001-2004 models is .032 if using non "Power" Iridium plugs, .044 for Iridium "Power", and .040 for Iridium Twin Tip. For all 2005+ models it is .044 for Iridium Long Life and .040 for Iridium Twin Tip. There is a general consensus that you don't gap Iridium Plugs as they come pregapped.

bit of debris , dirt down in the hole where the plug goes. A bit of grunge stuck below the spark plug hole, down where the coil goes. Too hard to fish it out. I figure its ok to leave it there. because the dirt is not actually going into the engine, not going into the spark plug threaded hole area. , On my 2002 . 4.7 l, sr5 Tundra. my plug is NGK # 6418 Iridium Spark Plugs BKR6EIX . Some folks say to gap it to .044. So that is my gap selection. Other people say I am gapping wrong span spec.

Do you think Toyota used anti seize on the plugs when they built the engine? Answer: No. Denso and NGK spark plugs come with a nickel plate sacrificial coding negating the need for anti seize.
@tinytimm5697
@tinytimm5697 11 ай бұрын
Yea on my factory new 2000 4.7L V8 Toyota Tundra the first time I replaced my plugs I did not have to use a ratchet to unscrew them , just a spark plug socket and a extension and unscrewed them by hand. (HENCE NO NEED FOR ANTI-SEIZE). The crush washers were not even crushed. I put 45,000 miles on the engine and I'm surprised it ran right. I installed new factory OEM DENSO spark plugs put a small dab of aluminum Permatex anti-seize on each plug then torqued them to 15 ft. lbs. Toyota specs were 13-22 ft. lbs. but DENSO specs were 15-22 ft. lbs. and they made the plug so they should know. I spoke to a engineer from Denso who designs the spark plugs and he says that using anti-seize is a good thing but it will increase the torque by 20% to 30%. The Denso safe torque spec range for OEM Denso plug #K20R-U is 15-22 ft. lbs. so even with anti-seize it is still in the torque specs of the factory and the plug manufacturer. So don't believe everything you hear opinions are like belly buttons everybody has one. As for me I have used anti-seize for the last 40 years on plugs and never had a problem. Just torque the plugs to the lower end of the suggested specs. and you will never have to worry about over torque even with anti-seize.
@paulapril
@paulapril 11 ай бұрын
@@tinytimm5697 Thanks for the essay. I didn't hear this from some customer service agent at Denso pretending to be an engineer. I am the engineer. Denso and the equivalent plugs from Toyota have a sacrificial nickel coating that prevents them from seizing in the head. Denso's own website says anti seize is not necessary. Moreover, Toyota did not use anti seize when they assembled the engine. Therefore anti seize is unnecessary.
