Just replaced the starter 5 minutes ago after watching this. Turning the key was only making a single click in the engine from the starter. I did it from the bottom but I did have to quick pop off the radiator hose on top and the big intake pipe on the right above the bolts and it made getting off the bolts pretty dang easy from the top, then switched out the starter from the bottom and bolted it back in! Took less than an hour and I'd never done it before. Car runs great now.

Question, my Elantra also makes a single click sound when turn the key. This is an intermittent problem. Yesterday for example had no problems starting at all. This morning took several tries before would start. Did you have similar problem?

From the research I've done, it seems to be a common problem that a little plastic piece inside of the starter motor breaks.

Helpful video! Had to replace ours from the bottom, but it helps to know what to look for. We also had to remove the air filter for a bit easier access. Only problem was the replacement starter solenoid doesn’t seem to hold onto the wire harness as well so it has popped out. Think ours may be just defective- I never heard the tell-tale click

Do you have to get under the car to install the new starter or can you install the new starter from the top as well?
@adembinski110 Жыл бұрын
I have found it best to remove the air cleaner and its box from above. This allows extremely easy access to the 2 large starter mounting bolts from above. Unbolting / unsnapping the wires to the starter and also twisting & pulling the unbolted starter is best done from below.

Anyone looking for the starter location on the Elantra Touring model (2007-20012), it's the same engine 2.0L 4cyl but mirror the location. So the starter is on the back firewall side. You have to go from underneath to see and reach it. I was completely confused that I couldn't find it after watching this video and decided to go under the car to take a look and found it. Same general area on the driver side but on the back of the engine on the firewall side. Same procedure as shown here to remove and replace. Have fun boys and girls! God bless :)

Hi, very well explained, easy to understand. I would like to buy a second-hand Hyundai Elentra 2013 model. Could you please let me know what are the common problem with 2013 model Hyundai Elentra?, I heard there is a problem for reverse gear is not working sometimes, is it true ( for manual transmission ) ?.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Elentra with 191,000 original miles. I am the first owner. I replaced the battery this year (5 years old), front rotors, brake pads, filters, tires and fluids as needed during the full life of the vehicle. I paid $1600 at the 120,000 mile check point to the dealership where I bought the car. There is a recall on the brake pedal button (falls out). I have never had a problem with this car, ever!

I’m trying to figure out the noise my 2017 Elantra is making, I’m not a car person but after watching this video and doing some research before hand I believe my starter is going out. There’s a rattle sound coming from below what I believe to be the manifold it’s located center of the engine. My car starts up pretty rough and loud and sounds loud while driving until my car gets warmed up then it sort of quiets down. Has anyone else had this problem and believe it could be the starter ? I’ve kept up on all routine and required maintenance my 2017 Elantra has 52,000 on it

That doesn't sound like the start. Once your car starts the starter disengages.

@jamaljones5666 жыл бұрын
Shirelle Coakley it depends, if you have no power when you turn over, equals your battery. If you turn over and you hear no click or 1 click, it's your starter. If you hear rapid clicking when turning over, it's your alternator
@FLguy016 жыл бұрын
@@jamaljones566 not necessarily your starter. Could also be the Range Switch aka the Neutral Safety Switch which seems to be a common problem with Elantras
