How to Replace Subaru Crosstrek / Impreza Speakers (Front Tweeters)

Thanks for the video. so, about a month ago , I couldn't hear anyone that called me on speakers, I called subaru, they said I had uploaded the new version of software on my phone and on my crosstek ! check did both and I still could not hear the person on a phone call. Finally, I made an appointment to have the issue diagnosed. The dealer came back with the tweeters were not working, that's why I couldn't hear the person on the call. I asked for a price to replace the Harman Karman tweeters, now I must warn you to sit down before I say this, the quote was $1,184, yep that's one thousand eighty-four dollars for 2 tweeters and installation. Obviously, I didn't fall for that, and here I am learning to do it myself. Appreciate the video ... thank you .

Hey I just installed the tweeters a few days ago. The dealer wanted 70 bucks to do it for me but I did it myself. It was very simple. World of difference with high frequency sound. System sounds best under the "bass" equalizer setting with the tweeters if you listen to rock and metal like me. Trying to decide what to do about an amplifier now since I am not reading very many good things about the overpriced kicker sub/amp combo.

I installed all the speakers by myself very easy to remove the door panels you don’t have to completely take off the door panels just enough to remove and put the new speaker in all you need is a screwdriver

Is the speaker connector for the front door speakers and the tweeter the same? Also are the front door speakers coax or component?

Very interesting! I went for the rockford fosgate 6X9 and amplifier upgrade on my 21 sport crosstrek and I have been wondering if there are any drop-in plug-and-play upgrade options for my tweeters. Wonder if something like this would be an option...

Thanks for the video! I understand the plug and play simplicity, but it seems to me like it might not be too challenging to mount and wire a different aftermarket tweeter to the factory housing. Has anyone attempted this?

Can u tell me how many wires r going into that wiring harness u put into the speaker? There should be a crossover to keep the bass from coming out those speakers, just wondering if you saw where it was located?

I just a got a 2016 Crosstrek Limited and HOLY SH.. the sound it awful. It's an embarrassment that a car could have such a terrible speaker system in 2016. And not having a speaker grill for the doors is a scam, you have to pull the door panel off. Thanks for the vid. Well done.

Do these tweeters come with the metal case to bolt in the tweeters or did those come seperately

They come with the casing. All you do is remove and reinstall the new ones. Super easy install and worth every penny!

My girlfriend has a 2015 outback limited with the Harmon Kardon sound system and they are the same speakers as a base model. Cardboard and itty bitty tinnie wiennie magnets!

Really?? But Harman Kardon model is much more expensive. Subaru claims they're 540 Watt system

@@spawn11 Maybe the electronic portion of the stereo was 540 W but it didn't sound that great and speakers were cheap. I replaced them with $60 pair aftermarket speakers and iot sounded better.

What exact Subaru Impreza is this on for I have a 2020 Impreza and I’m trying to get those kicker tweeters. But they Subaru tell me they only make up from WRX and STI

This was a 2014 Crosstrek but it would fit all imprezas and Crosstreks from that generation. I'm not sure about the 2020s but I'd expect its the same.

@@AKR-1978 i just got these for my 2021 crosstrek. Sad to find out that the mounting holes aren't the same. The pin connect is the same, so if you can get some brackets to mount the speakers it'll be okay. I'll be looking for aftermarket 3.5's instead.

That was the only brand I came across that was a plug and play unless you want to deal with connecting wires (which probably wouldn't be that hard actually).

Mike C I have a 2016 Impreza. I replaced the stock door speakers with the kickers. It didn't come with stock tweeters but I bought the kicker upgrade tweeters and pick those up tomorrow. They are plug and play like yours. I am doing the job myself because the dealer wants 70 bucks to install them. Fuck that! But I hope it's as easy as you make it look in your video. I have one less step than you because there are no stock tweeters. The base Impreza only comes with door speakers.

Miguel Juanez The 2016 has wiring all set up for plugging them right in. I am pretty sure yours does too. You can literally do it yourself in about 5 minutes.

While appreciate the installation, it was painful to see a screwdriver used to pry the trim plate off. One slip and your dash is forever marred. Get some inexpensive plastic trim tools!! They can very quickly pay for themselves.

For the sticker prices these Subarus goes for, they should at least put some decent speakers..., my old ‘88 Iroc Z28 brought better speakers than these Subarus! Thanks for the video, well explained!
