Nice....now I can install this and my new plugs this weekend. Right now I got a mule rope tied on one of the levers so i can open it with my cover down. lol I can't wait for the part to come in.

This video was very helpful. I watched it and clicked the link and purchased the replacement handle (with lock hole). It took about 10 minutes to install. One comment is that the replacement unit did not have the gaskets cited in the video - but this was not an issue to me as the original factory unit I removed did not have them.

Unfortunately the lock provision makes the handle bigger so the one without the lock hole will not work since it will be smaller.

Great Video on replacement of broken tailgate latch. One thing I found in replacing my latch is to have the tailgate lock in the "locked" position. It's easier to install the lock bar and clip, then unlock it before shutting the gate. Otherwise, it was very simple using your video as my guide. Thanks

my current (broken) tailgate handle has a lock on it, will the chrome handle on your site be ok to install even tho it doesn't have a lock provision on it? I dont care about having a lock I just wanna make sure that chrome one will fit in its place.

That is the tailgate handle assembly

Those are the LATCHES. The hinges are at the bottom of the tailgate. Open the tailgate slightly and lift it up, it comes off of the hinges. do this carefully to prevent marring the paint on the outside of the tailgate. You can grease both sides to prevent squeaking.

Good video on how to replace the handle and lock, but what if the handle is broken and the tailgate is closed? I cant figure out how to open my tailgate to replace the handle...any advice? Oh, and I have a cover on it that locks into place and cannot be opened unless the tailgate is down, so there goes that option! Please help me...

what if your handle doesn’t open the tailgate and you have stuff inside so you need to find a way to open it from the outside
