Trick to remove the bottom bolt of the Alternator. Remove the top two bolts and then force the alternator to the right side of the vehicle. The bolt is now exposed and will be able to be removed very easily.

Take the ac compressor off you don’t even have to remove the lines and the pulley that’s in front of the alternator and you good you can also unbolt the battery from the jump off points if you don’t wanna go under the bumper

One of the worst designed cars for battery change,water pump is inside the bloody motor believe it or not? On and on these cars have some real hard to get at components that take minutes to swap out on other cars,but good video it helped me out.
@chale20162 жыл бұрын
Ways of getting at it a lot easier than trying to go underneath the vehicle take the radiator support off get a couple wobble sockets you can get a set at harbor freight you get the real small wobble socket on a 3/8 with a 15 mil short and deep well works wonders now the mounting bracket there's 13 and 10 mm and then you need a seven for the headlights to do that then you have access top down entirely and then you just got to move your fan out of the way which is a 10 mm a lot easier to get in at it

On my 2.7 2006 stratus, we were changing the alternator and knocked a blue cable that is attached to the alternator connectors, it controls most of interior power and i need to see where it connects. Ive been looking forever and noone has the answer

Is the Concorde 2.7 the same configuration as the Sebring, Intrepid and Stratus?
@VigilanceTech5 жыл бұрын
no, the intrepid and Concorde are North/South oriented engines whereas the Sebring and Stratus are East/West (transverse)

thats a different altenator then on my 2006 chrysler sebring 2.7, the 2 bolts on mine are below and 1 on top, yours shows 2 on the top and 1 on the bottom.

I had the same issue but when I replaced my alternator the battery light still came back on and battery is not getting any charge. What should I check next?
@TheOriginalMechanic6 жыл бұрын
Look hard at the wiring. Make sure you have continuity from the battery. Make sure all grounds are tight. Also check the fuses in the circuit

Is the belt properly routed with enough tension ?
@VigilanceTech5 жыл бұрын
its not actually that hard to remove the upper radiator support on these which makes pulling those belts and getting the alternator in and out a *lot* easier

This is probably a dumb question, but is it mandatory to have the car on a ramp or can this repair be all done from the hood? Thanks so much , this video is a huge help. ( I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan 2.7L)
@TheOriginalMechanic8 жыл бұрын
Hard to say for sure, not having tried it that way. I think the difficulty level would go up from the ground, but maybe it could be done. If you can't drive it onto ramps, setting it on jack stands would help.

I have the new alternator that cost me $191.18 but no way to remove the old one and get the new one in . I don't know who designed the Concorde but I hope that person NEVER designed anything else ! :(

This engine is full of bad designs...not just the alternator placement. The water pump is in fact driven by the timing chain and starts leaking into the oil system at about 80K...the Chrysler 2.7 is known for it. You must get the timing chain and water pump replaced (don't go over 80K miles) or it's goodbye engine. It's a lot of work, makes the alternator seem like child's play. Expect about $2,000 total if you have a garage do it.

@@leonspringsboystv2025 my 06 Sebring is at 190000 km or over 100000 miles on it and the 2.7 is perfect ,actually they could only find one rust spot on the rear passengers side fender just above the rear wheel and ive driven it for eight winters in Canada where they have to salt the roads,It Must have been built on the right day of the week I guess ,LOL,Wednesday I think they use to say ???

I'm watching this in 2023 as I continue attempting to remove a broken tap from a hole in the block needed to attach a timing chain guide. It turns out that a big tap wrench is too big to turn with the alternator in place. I stripped the hole and broke a tap nearly a year ago.

I plan on upgrading the alternator for my 2008 sebring (car audio), could this guide be helpful? Thought I could try it myself but I see most people putting the car on a lift and removing the right wheel...?
@TheOriginalMechanic8 жыл бұрын
+NewEra0G I don't see any reason, at least on the 2003, for putting it on a lift for this job. We didn't have any issues with driving the car up on a ramp.

+The Original Mechanic Oh ok that's cool, I'll probably have a shop do it. If you wanna see my issues look at the setup at the 2.4 engine, it's WAY down there and nowhere near the top of the bay like most I see. SMH
