That's like the easiest repair I have ever seen! Great video. I have a 2003 Dakota and it's always having problems.

what kinds of problems? i have one as well, second owner- had 133K when i bought it, now has 230K... have replaced the AC, Radiator and now the Alternator but for a vehicle this old and this many miles, i figure that's to be expected for the most part

@@dasherbravo767 Well the most recent repair was the main computer! One night all might lights went out inside and the headlights as well as the 4WD stopped working. Bought a used one. Before that both rear leaf spring shackles went. There have been power steering lines that had to be replaced as well as a radiator line. I think all 4 shocks need replacing as well.

@@dasherbravo767 Idk the 4 wheel drive seems to be working fine sense I had the computer changed. The truck is about to hit 80K and the rust isn't bad considering we are in Vermont. I know I'm going to have to replace the shocks soon.

Haynes manual video without bolt/wrench sizes or torque settings used ???
@HaynesManuals
@HaynesManuals 4 жыл бұрын
The manufacturers often change fastener sizes or types during the course of a vehicle's model run, so giving bolt/wrench sizes isn't always an option. The torque specs are given at 1:54 in the video

Why do you have to remove the belt all the way off ? Is this necessary??

Is it normal for the bottom left mounting bolt to make a short burst of clicking noises each time I loosen it? Also how long does it take to remove the bottom left belt, cuz it looks pretty long

Yes just tension releasing. Clean and lubricate before returning it

The hardest part is getting the tension off the pulley system, they *definitely* made it look easy in the video. Bolts probably aren't gonna wanna come out after bein in their place for damn near two decades or more, but this took me 20 minutes with some wrenches and a few ratchets.

Power steering pump.

This video is flipped/mirrored due to his camera. The alternator is more on the left (facing the vehicle front)/passenger side of the vehicle. The next pulley item to the right (facing the vehicle front) is the AC compressor, not the power steering pump.

Nope, not hard at all - In 35+ years of working on early ‘60s through mid-20teens Model Yr cars and trucks, the alternator still continues to be one of the easiest repairs for amateurs and for pros thankfully

Does anyone else think that it sounds like the lady doing the voice over is going in and out of a slight British accent?

Sounds more like a California dialect, or possibly Midwestern. Nonetheless, easy and quick guide to basically say, it's a DIY task. Good point to add, "check belt, while it is loosened, for cracks and wear and replace if needed." That could be a factor in a burned out alternator, I'd think. I got a snicker when it said, "Remove alternator. Now install alternator." One of those, we-know-what -you-mean moments. Old alternator. New alternator. I got it. I'm old, so I need exact details else I take things literally.

For a Haynes video I wasn’t impressed. I’m used to better quality videos coming from normal users. This video had a Chinese sounding voiceover. It did not specify the sizes of wrenches to use or the direction in which to turn the counter pulley which was frustrating. Sorry I was just expecting because it was created by the formally best manual manufacture, it would be at least the same quality as users put out, but I was absolutely wrong. This was one of the worst repair videos on the Internet and surprisingly sell. I know your objective is to make money on KZbin and to sell your series on this truck, but you’re going to have to do better than that. I suggest you reimburse Mechanic that is affiliated with your company creating a generation videos without even the bolt size with a voiceover was extremely annoying and definitely one of the worst videos I have seen on l see no reason to purchase the video series when the content is going to be either this bad or possibly even worse. Come on HAYNES get it together. Before the days of the Internet, you always produced the best manuals. How could you fail so hard on this video. it’s still bothering me day after I watch it. That’s why I’m leaving the comment.
