Yes, Denso is the OEM for Chrysler. I work in the factory where both of those alternators were made. The new one you have is simply the next generation and better.

I've done this swap on the side of the road, took me about 10 minutes. Went through two of these stupid OEM alts before going with the upgrade. Just got another nice 2004 GC with the 4.7 and will do this swap soon.

The 117amp unit is for the jeeps that don't have rear window defrosters. Any Jeep that has a rear window defroster comes with a 138amp magical mystery box.

My alternator on my 03 dakota slt was giving me the same symptoms. With my boat trailer lights it would struggle, so i went on the A shop and bought a 160amp alternator for less than $100 and no core. So far so good.

So got a 160 amp from the salvage yard, 50 bucks bench tested good dropped it in tonight.

BTW, There are 3 ways that light up the red bulb that says "BRAKE" on the WJs dash. #1-Parking brake is on. #2-fluid is low in master cylinder. #3-There is a current fault with the ABS system that's been there long enough for the ABS warning light to have burnt out.

Rock auto under 02 Durango shows the Denso 2101139 as fitting these also. Whats even weirder the one you listed links to amazon...... Quality-Built 13913 Premium Alternator - Remanufactured.... says does not fit 02 Durango but amazon has been wrong in the past. Hey what's up man I have a 2001 Dodge Durango with a 4.7 Powertech motor fully loaded and I use that truck to tow a lot of weight and I still have the original alternator 160 amp alternator ad with a 810 battery

Could be. I helped my dad replace his alternator on his fj cruiser and his new alternator from Toyota (labeled and sold as Toyota) was a denso and the local auto store had a denso alternator for a lot less money… lesson learned

I am now in the process of doing the same, but on my 94 5.2 ZJ- Stock alternator is 90. In 98 they used a 136 on the 5.9 - same brand as the one you bought, and also from rockauto. Nice thing is that the variant I chose use the older style connectors - so no wire cutting involved. My only concern is the gauge of the stock charging wires - Should that not be upgraded as well? What is your take on the Jeepcables big7 upgrade?

I did the wire upgrade to 1/0 wires. I did not upgrade my wires that runs to the "voltage regulator" (keep in mind our WJ's do not have voltage regulators inside the alternator, it is in side the ECU, so if you lose voltage you will need a replacement ECU. Only issues I had after the wire upgrade was the aftermarket voltage regulator which I have since disconnected.

Will this Alt work on 2003 WJ 4.7 HO? Also will the PCM computer adjust to the 160amp as the voltage regulator or does it need to be adjusted / programmed?

You should look into watching your videos before you post them because the camera is reversed making it 100x harder to do what is in the video. What I mean by reversed is the video shows it's on the left but it's actually on the right
